Topic: THE FAT SLAVE (2)

2 Timothy 2:26 (KJV) “And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”

It is your responsibility to recover yourself.

Last week, we began to explain that there are spiritual slaves. We mentioned 10 types of spiritual slaves. I also tried to explain to you some of the history of the slave trade in Africa.

Then I told you that there is a more wicked slave trade going on of men and women who have been caged—those feeding from the table of the devil, those being controlled all over the place.

Are you here this morning, and you are going from mountain to mountain, from one baba to another mama, roaming all over the place? It is evident that you are a slave.

It is you who will recover yourself. Do not think anybody will recover you. The responsibility is at your door. Paul said, “I put my body under subjection.” He did it himself, not waiting for anybody to do it for him.

A man went to the mountain to pray. He told his wife, “Before I get back, prepare pap for me.” And he was away for 7 days. When he got back, the woman said, “Welcome.” He asked, “Why are you smiling? Have you made the food I asked you to prepare for me to break my fast with?” The woman replied, “Did the angel not feed you on the mountain? I am going to make my hair. Go to the kitchen and prepare your food by yourself.”

The man got very angry. Look at somebody coming from the mountain. He gave the woman a dirty slap. That woman fell down and did not rise up again. He broke his fast at the police station.

So that man roaming around the mountain is supposed to deal with himself and recover himself from the spirit of anger that has held him captive. He did not need the mountain; all he needed was to deal with that spirit of anger that was opening the door for the enemy to attack his life. There is no greater mountain than your bedroom.

You rushing about like a butterfly or mosquito is actually an insult to the Almighty God, because you are saying that your God can only be found on the mountain. God feels insulted by that, whereas God is everywhere.

That is why God is called Omnipresent. That is why making such a huge mistake by saying that God is only God of the mountain or the beach, and it shows that you are a slave.

The problem is this: many who come to church are backsliders. And when we say backsliding, we do not mean you have totally abandoned your faith; it just means that you are not at the level that God wants you to be.

And because you are not at that level, all kinds of powers at the level you are will be fighting you. And this is a very serious matter. It has been discovered that the only bird that attacks the eagle is called the crow. It pursues eagles. But once it pursues the eagle and is perching on its head, the eagle does not fight it. It just keeps going higher and higher.

There is a level that, if the crow gets to it, it will have trouble breathing properly and will drop off while the eagle continues the journey. What is the eagle doing? It is going above the crow’s level.

There is a level you get to where any power that comes to attack you would have died before you even knew it. But there is a level where you are struggling with the struggles and wrestling with the wrestlers.

So, beloveth if you are supposed to be on level 10 spiritually but you are on level 7, the demons that are at that level 7 will continue to attack you. But if you raise your level, you drop them below.

So, beloveth, remember that backsliding is not that you have turned your back against God; it means that you are not at the level that God wants you to be. This means that there are plenty of backsliders here.

But the truth is this: you cannot backslide without suffering. If you backslide, you suffer. Paul said, “We are not of them that go back into perdition.” Every backsliding will bring suffering. Backsliding begins at the knees of prayer. It is your prayer power that, first of all, shows whether you are backsliding or not.

Backsliding begins on your prayer knees. It is like a stranded sheep. You may not tell anybody, but your enemies know that you are a backslider. And they will call their headquarters to tell them that you have backslidden and that it is time to launch their attack against you.

That is why that songwriter who wonders if he was a white man sang:

1. Christian, seek not yet repose,’
   Hear thy guardian Angel say;
   Thou art in the midst of foes:
   Watch and pray!’
2. Principalities and powers,
   Mustering their unseen array,
   Wait for thy unguarded hours:

They are waiting for the time you will back slide. And beloveth, when some people backslide, the enemy wants to kill them very quickly so that they do not repent, so that he can lead them to hellfire.

Is there any backslider here? Find your way back to Jesus. Playing with sin is like playing with a dangerous snake like a mamba or python or a cobra.

Backsliding is like an eagle with a broken wing—like a garden that has been overrun with weeds. But you see, every form of spiritual decay and backsliding is a gradual process; it does not happen in one day.

Are you a backslider? Please cry to the Lord this morning and slide back to Jesus.

I had a friend, and something made him a prayer warrior. He had a revelation, and in that revelation, he saw himself climbing a staircase to heaven. He got up to level 12, and there were 24 more to go, but he stayed there. There was an angel looking at him and telling him, “You have been at that level for 5 years. If you remain there for one more year, you will die. You have 24 more, but you are stuck there. Worse still, you keep going down to 11, then back to 12, and that is what you have been doing. So heaven does not take you seriously.”

I am praying for anyone here who keeps going up and down like this, whose spiritual life is like malaria, hot today and cold tomorrow, that you will find your way back to fire! In the name of Jesus.

So a backslider is one of the most dangerous people on earth. He is a walking time bomb. An example was Jonah. Jonah was a backslider on that boat, and he put everyone in trouble, subjecting their lives to jeopardy. Everybody in the boat would have died because there was a Jonah in the boat. Are you a backslider? Slide back to Jesus.

When your story should be “The things I used to do, I do them no more
The things I used to do, I do them no more
The things I used to do, I do them no more
There is a great change since I met God”, you are still doing the things you used to do before you met Jesus.

Ha! All the whole problems will come back because you are going back to old sins.

Let me tell you one secret: beauty is vain. If you marry a woman or a man because of their beauty or handsomeness, it is equivalent to buying a house because of the painting. All is vanity upon vanity. What is the use of beauty when you are worse than Mary Magdalene with multiple demons?

What is the use of beauty when you wake up every day to things itching your body and you are scratching? What is the use of beauty when the enemy is pushing you here and there?

God says we should look good. And so that is why you borrow materials from the waters and from all kinds of forests and say that is beauty? I feel sorry for you. You do not understand. Your eyes are closed. A backslider will spend time in the wrong places and with the wrong people.

As you sit down, scan your friends. Scan the people you talk to on the phone. Are they the right people? When you are with the wrong people, you are a backslider.

You are spending time with the wrong people? You are a backslider.
You are going to the wrong places? You are a backslider.
You go to a place, you see your pastor, and you are hiding? You are a backslider.

A backslider will hurt himself and others. He will hurt his family and hurt the church. A backslider is very weak in devotion and quiet time, and very worldly in their desires.

The truth is this; the devil will be satisfied with you if you are satisfied with him. And people do not leak instantly. It is a small leak. Samson was asleep when he lost his strength. Satan entered Judas in the presence of Jesus.

This is a very serious matter. When you are a gentleman in the spirit realm, it does not work well. Still water and spiritual life freeze very quickly. It is a sign of backsliding. You may not be walking in the darkness, but you enjoy strolling in the shade, it is still backsliding.

“Well pastor, I do not normally commit sin. I do not normally misbehave; I only take occasional bribes”. Backslider!

“Pastor, it is true oo that I commit fornication. But it is not with every girl. Maybe out of 30 girls I come across, it is just 2”. Backslider!

“Pastor, I do not sleep with every married woman; it is only those whose husbands do not love and care for. So pastor, I am not bad like that; I am just caring for them”. Backslider!

“Pastor, it is not every man I sleep with. I just sleep with divorcees, those who need company.” Backslider!

“Pastor, I am not a horrible person; I only have four boyfriends: one sugar daddy, one rich bachelor, one penniless bachelor, and one married man like that.” Backslider!

“Pastor, do not worry about that one. The day I want to stop drinking, I will stop. I only take about 2 to 5 bottles, but not more than 7”. Backslider.

Are you here, and even as we speak now, if we go to your house now and open the fridge, there is hot gin in it and serious alcohol there, and you want to be drinking that and be a prophet? It is not possible.

There is a reason God banned all His prophets from drinking. You ask somebody and say, “Mr. Man, why are you telling lies?” He will say, “I tell lies, but they are business lies. Commercial lies. You know, in our business, we have to tell lies occasionally. So I do not tell lies all the time.” You can say all that, but the stand of the scriptures is this: “All liars will find themselves in the bottom of hell fire that burneth with fire and brimstone.”

Maybe, as a man here, you undress a woman in the laboratory of your heart. The Bible says you are a fornicator, an adulterer, and even a rapist. The Bible says you can even rape a person in your heart. That is the stand of the scriptures.

When you are angry without cause, or if you hate people, the Bible says that hatred is murder, and so you will be judged with murderers, because when God judges sin, He judges:

• Your intentions,
• Your principles,
• Your motives,
• The pinings of your heart,
• Your way of life,
• Your thought processes,
• The cravings of your heart.

He looks at the tablet of your heart. No liar will enter into the kingdom of God. All the professional liars that tell lies without blinking an eye, the occasional liars, the commercial liars, the romantic liars that tell multiple people, “You are the only sugar in my tea,” “You are the only pamphlet in my hand,” “You are the only sun in my sky,” and all the academic liars that pay people to sit for exams for them will all have their part in the lake of fire. All the husband liars who say, “I have no money; things are expensive.” Whereas they have money, all the sexual liars, all the pretenders, and all the people glorifying fornication are all people who have backslidden. It is a very serious matter.

Unfortunately, many sisters have their brains in their feet. Once somebody says to them, ” I want to marry you,” that is all. They just release their bodies to the man. When the person now makes a roundabout turn and says, “I am no longer interested,” you have already sold your body. You have allowed the man to gamble with your body and toy with your destiny.

This is a very very serious situation. If you are in this situation, you need to cry to the Lord. You say you have repented, but you still have complimentary cards of your sugar daddy? You have not burnt the bridges. There must be a complete destruction of those bridges that link you to the world. Burn the bridges. This is a very serious matter.

I have been a minister for a while. There are four places on Earth where men pay close attention. They pay hard attention to the Word of God in these places:

1. The leprosy colony: there, people listen hard to the word of God.
2. The prison yard: there, people listen hard.
3. Where men who have been condemned to death are: they listen carefully.
4. The cemetery: people listen very well.

Why? In those locations, the tablet of the heart is no longer able to play games. When the preacher stands by the graveside and begins to say, “It is written, ‘it is appointed unto men to die once, and after this, the judgement’, this man is gone now. His limousine, houses, and cars are not here now. He can no longer drink tea. He cannot do anything. He is gone. The women he is committing fornication with cannot stay with him anymore. It is finished”.

People listen and listen hard. That is why you see that at the cemetery, people are very solemn because, at that level, the tablet of the heart can no longer play games.

Intelligent men who go for burials are very pensive, and they think deeply that one day the night will come and that night will blow the final whistle, and that is it. And any goal you score after the referee has blown the final whistle is expired work. It does not count at all.

Many are held in tight bondage by the spirit of lust and their intense desire to satisfy their sexual appetite. Many are caged by infatuation, where they are completely carried away by attraction to others. They are blind to love. Even with their enemies.

Other people can see danger signals, but they cannot see them because they are blindly in love. We are about to start praying, but listen to these important statements about freedom:

1. Freedom is never free. It is not free. No. You need to fight for it and demand it. The enemies of our souls are not ready to let go. They are strong task masters.
2. Freeing yourself may be easy, but remaining free is harder.
3. All of life is crossing the Red Sea. You have to be sharp, connected, and prayerful. This is a very serious matter.
4. Freedom is to know what it is that enslaved us.
5. It is better to be hungry and free than being a fat slave, knowing fully well that slaves who love their chains will remain in their bondage.
6. Every chain you manufacture in life, you will wear because you are the one who made it.
7. Each man or woman makes his or her own prison.
8. Liberation is not deliverance. Somebody saying to you, “Okay, you can go,” does not mean you are delivered if he has the capacity to still bring you back.
9. The world is full of insane people—those who are able to learn from their own mistakes. And like it has been well said, insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result.
10. If there is pain, something is not free that should be free.
11. Defending your weakness and what you are doing wrong is the foundation of slavery.

Years ago, I was a young man who was sometimes making holy trouble. Where I was staying, I noticed that by 4 a.m., a lady was always preaching on our street, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” She was always ringing a bell while preaching. Then one day, I did something that I will not do now. I woke up at 4 a.m. and went to confront her and said, ‘I noticed that you are always preaching “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” every morning.

Please, I need clarification. What is repentance? And which kingdom are you saying is at hand?

She looked at my face and retorted in Yoruba language “It has not been given to man to make an explanation on this.” So I asked, Why then are you doing this? She replied, “A prophet said I should do this, if not I will die”.

Look at that kind of bondage. A person is declaring a message she does not want to die.

I am praying for somebody here this morning that any chain that holds you down, that makes you stink in the nostrils of heaven, that the Lord should break it now! In the name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINTS

1. My star, come out of foundational dungeon! In the name of Jesus.
2. Blood of Jesus, gather for me every good thing my foundation has scattered! In the name of Jesus.
3. Powers that want to make hospital my home, you are liars; die! In the name of Jesus.
4. Every word that has been used to bind me, scatter! In the name of Jesus.
5. Evil calendar, drafted against my children, catch fire! In the name of Jesus.
6. Powers desperate to destroy my glory, your time is up, die! In the name of Jesus.
7. Powers of darkness troubling my family, destroy yourselves! In the name of Jesus.

[After Message]
(Talk to the Lord and tell Him “Lord, I need a change in my life”).
(Sing: Send down revival Lord,
Let it start within my soul,
Holy Ghost revival,
Pentecostal fire).

1. Power of backsliding in my life, die! In the name of Jesus.
2. I bind and cast out every spirit of death and hell! In the name of Jesus.
3. Stronghold of sin and death, I pull you down! In the name of Jesus.
4. (Shout this 10 times.) The devil will not harvest my life, by the power in the blood of Jesus.
