Topic: BREAKING THE POWER OF OBSCURITY
Text: 1 Kings 19:19–21

Listen to this message very carefully, so you know how to pray when the time comes.

History is lined up with many people whose correct identities never showed up. History is full of people who came to this world, but they did not manifest. Nobody really knew who they were. They crawled, unknown, from the cradle to the grave.

There is a power that does not want them to be known and that obscures their lives, like a veil or a negative aura around them. Therefore, what they carried, we never saw.

Some carried a hundred percent package, but the enemy obscured them, and we only saw 2% or 3% until they got to the grave.

So it is not a gentle prayer meeting this morning because millions of people have been plagued. Unfortunately, the church does not really address it.

Nobody would have known Moses. He would have spent his life in Pharaoh’s palace, and that would be it. Nobody would have known Paul, although he had two-thirds of the books of the New Testament in his belly. It would have died with him. This is why I am praying this prayer:

Everything that God has loaded you with, and the enemy does not want it to manifest, whether you like it or not, whether the devil likes it or not, whether the enemy likes it or not, with a tenfold amen, I command them to manifest! In the name of Jesus.

It is a disaster when a tree dies from a seed. So the tree never manifests. It is a disaster to come to this world, but you did not show up.

A person carries so much, but we do not get to see them. That is why some people have said that the richest place on earth is the cemetery.

In the cemetery, we have a lot of unfulfilled dreams. There, you have:

• Pilots who never flew.
• Soldiers who never fought.
• Builders who never built.
• Singers who never sang, etc.

Any power that wants you to crawl unknown through life shall be buried today! In the name of Jesus.

In 1 Kings 19, we read about a very powerful man of God who did double the miracles that Elijah did, but let us see where the enemy pushed him. He was pushed to one corner like that.

That power that keeps pushing you to the back, business-wise and progress-wise, with a tenfold amen, those powers must be destroyed! In the name of Jesus.

1 Kings 19:19 (KJV) : “So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.”

So mantles can carry power. Those mantles that you bring here to Manna Water Service, do not joke with them. Immediately Elijah’s mantle landed on him; something happened to him.

1 Kings 19:20 (KJV): “And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah.. “

Elijah said nothing to Elisha; he only cast his mantle on him and left. And it was with that same mantle that Jordan was divided. When the mantle landed on the man, a spirit, a negative anointing, left him. What that mantle did was to break the backbone of obscurity in his life.

Here was a mighty prophet of God that the enemy had converted to a farmer. The spirit of obscurity had left him there. If Elijah had not found him and put that mantle upon him, the spirit and anointing of obscurity would have kept him there, and he would have died a farmer. So it is a tragedy when a tree dies in a seed, when a man dies in a boy, and when a woman dies in a girl.

1 Kings 19:20 (KJV): “And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?”

The mantle broke that backbone of obscurity, and his eyes opened. If God were to open the eyes of some people and show them what they really should be, they would spend 7 days crying about what they were supposed to be and where they were. This is why I keep praying this prayer, and it is one of the MFM prayers that:

I decree upon you this morning that any power that is saying, “This is how far you can go, you cannot go beyond this level. Nobody in your family has gone that far, so why do you want to go that far?” I command such powers to die! In the name of Jesus (a sevenfold amen).

Elijah, being who he was, asked, “Why are you following after me? Go back. What did I do?”

1 Kings 19:21 (KJV): “And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.”

Elisha celebrated his party with his friends and left to follow Elijah. That day that the mantle fell on him was the day that the backbone of the power of obscurity was broken in his life.

What is obscurity? It can mean 12 things:

1. The condition of being unknown. Talented but unknown. Loaded but unknown.
2. Uncertainty of meaning.
3. Uncertainty of expression.
4. Being ambiguous.
5. The condition of being unimportant.

Every power that is declaring that you will not be important, with a 10-fold amen, I bury them now! In the name of Jesus.

6. Darkness.
7. Dimness.
8. Not distinct.
9. Imperfect knowledge.
10. Lack of adequate illumination means you cannot really see it well.
11. Being nameless or anonymous.
12. Absence or deficiency of light.

So when something is obscure, it is difficult to perceive or penetrate.

What do we then mean in deliverance as the spirit of obscurity? It means:

• Talented but unknown.
• Gifted but hidden
• For the enemy to localise your championship. There is something global in you, but the enemy localises you. You were seeing it in your dream that something in you shows that you are beyond the shores of your country, but you cannot get there. It is what we want to deal with this morning. It is that spirit that is saying you cannot get there.

The enemy does put a veil on people to hide them. He puts an aura on people to hide them. Sometimes such people begin to see cobwebs. They are not sleeping, but they are wiping cobwebs from their faces. Where do you think that is coming from? It is the spirit of obscurity. Already putting cobwebs on somebody, like the person, is dirty material and not useful.

• To be present but absent.
• To be covered with spiritual cobwebs.
• To be born great but tied down.
• To be in a situation where the inferior is made to rule over the superior. You are sitting in that office, but you are more qualified than everyone who is your boss. You have attended an interview. You have been told, “Yes, you are very suitable for the job, but we are sorry, we cannot give it to you. If you will take a lower position, we can give you that.”

So the person gets there, and the first day you go to greet the Managing Director, you find out that he was the little boy you were teaching mathematics in school.

This is why you should not joke with this kind of spirit. It occurs in different categories: some are totally obscure, some are three-quarters obscure, some are half obscure, and some are one-quarters obscure.

• The head is relegated to the tail.
• Someone who is brilliant but disgraced. A front-row candidate was rearranged in the back row. A born celebrity becoming second-class citizen.
• Being ignored at the corridor of greatness.

Can you raise your right hand, and if you love your destiny, let your voice be the loudest here:

PRAY: Powers working hard to make me small, die! In the name of Jesus.

• Unexplainable hatred. People just hate you for no reason. Maybe when you arrived then, they liked you, but now it is hatred. It is part of the manifestation of the spirit of obscurity.
• When the enemy is succeeding in making your helpers hate you. When the person who is suppose to help you is now hating you, you are going nowhere.

God will not come down by Himself; He uses vessels. He will not order His angels to come and promote you; He will use people around you. And I want you to understand that once the enemy is trying your helpers against you, or you yourself are now waging war against your helpers, you are writing a courier letter to the spirit of obscurity.

• Your presence provokes misfires of aggression. People fight you for no reason.
• Running but making no progress.
• Having testimony famine.
• Stars being shut down.
• Stars being made to wander.
• Stars being caged.
• The eagle becoming the chicken.
• Mysterious closing of opportunity doors.
• Somebody being destroyed by anti-light lions.
• Being kept in the backyard and dustbin of life.
• Your helpers suffering for helping you by either dying, being sacked, or falling sick.

A boy studied biochemistry and needed a job. Eventually, his father knew somebody in one company, and he was to attend the interview. The father told him, “Do not prepare; do not bother to study; my friend will be on the panel, and he is the chairman there.” And so the boy went without rehearsing anything. But just a split second before he was invited into the interview room, the chairman that his father depended on had a runny stomach and had to rush to the toilet. As the man rushed out, he asked the vice chairman to take over because his stomach was in turmoil. That was when the boy was brought in.

He was thinking that he would see the chairman and smile at him, but the spirit of obscurity had pushed out the chairman, and so he found no familiar face. He got confused, and he was asked the simplest question that a biochemist could be asked. He was asked, “What is glycolysis?” He looked very confused. When they saw how confused he was, they asked him his name, but the thing flew out of his head.

Eventually, he was asked to go out of the room, and they said, “We cannot employ this one.” It was after he had been sent out that the man in the toilet stopped having a runny stomach, and he came back. He did not even realise that the boy had been interviewed and gone.

It is this spirit that makes people fall victim to duping, and so they are totally helpless. We need to deal with this evil cloud here today. We will continue this message next week.

1. Blood of Jesus! (Shout 7x) Arise, fight for me! In the name of Jesus. (Pray this three hot times.)
2. Testimony robbers, breakthrough robbers, progress robbers, I am not your candidate; die! In the name of Jesus.
3. My breakthroughs left in this year, hear the Word of the Lord: manifest by fire! In the name of Jesus.
4. Strongman assigned to disgrace me, you are a liar; die! In the name of Jesus.
5. Wicked powers working against my shining, die! In the name of Jesus.

1. Powers stealing my glory, die! in the name of Jesus.
2. Arrows fired against my star, backfire! in the name of Jesus.
3. Where is the Lord God of Elijah? Arise, lift me up! in the name of Jesus.
4. Where is the Lord God of Elijah? Arise, promote me by fire! In the name of Jesus.
5. Every good thing that I have lost this year, I repossess them by fire! In the name of Jesus.
