Topic: DESTROYING THE COVENANT OF AFFLICTION (2)
Text: Psalms 107:17; Psalms 119:67

Sometime ago, we started to look at this topic. I remember that we defined what affliction is and what covenant is; we established that God is a covenant-keeping God, and He will commit Himself to something by covenants. It is the same way a person can form a covenant with affliction.

We discussed all this last time, and I told you that there is something known as:

• Land of affliction. 
• Bread of affliction.
• Water of affliction.
• Root of affliction. 

We said affliction has conception, pregnancy, incubation, delivery, tenure, death, or resurrection, and that is why the book of Nahum talks about rising up of affliction the second time (Nahum 1:9).

Psalms 107:17 (KJV) says, “Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.”

Meaning that transgressions and iniquities can bring affliction.

Psalms 119:67 (KJV) says: “Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.”

Meaning that some do not become wise until they are afflicted. That day, I also discussed that there is something called affliction from youth, and I defined for you the dreams of affliction.

People form all sorts of covenants. I also told you that people can form covenants with:

• Sickness. 
• Failure. 
• death. 
• Poverty, etc. All these we discussed the last time. 

If somebody is experiencing a covenant of affliction, we also discussed what the person will face. When a person is under the covenant of affliction, people describe you as a rocking chair. That is, plenty of activities but no progress.

When a person is under the covenant of affliction, wherever the person goes, they see him or her as a bringer of bad luck. They may have been doing well before, but when they get there, it begins to go badly. The business may have been flourishing before, but when this person with the covenant moves in, he brings bad luck.

I am praying for somebody here today: Any power bringing bad luck into your situation, let those powers be expelled now, in the name of Jesus.

Every bringer of bad luck will not prosper in your situation, in the name of Jesus. 

When a person is making money but a major part of that money goes to drugs, there is a covenant of affliction. The person works like an elephant and eats like an ant when there is a covenant of affliction in place. A person becomes like a blind man who, instead of trying to seek help, is buying spectacles, and this is a very serious situation.

This is why it is important to know whether you have formed this kind of covenant consciously or unconsciously, then pull them down, break them to pieces, and be sure to let them not continue to prosper in your life.

There is something called an “oath.” It is also a form of covenant. If you go and make an oath with a spirit, power, or principality, whether you are serious about it or not, whether you mean it or not, if you are now breaking that oath, it will bring constant affliction.

So you have to be careful about which oath you take or break. There is something called a marital oath. That is what couples form when they come to the altar. The pastor causes you to make that oath to stick to your spouse. But once one party begins to break that oath, the violation of punishment will move in.

Some join gangs of thieves, and they come together to form an oath not to mention any names if one of them gets caught. It is an oath. Sometimes it is in occupational groups. Lovers take oaths. Idol worshippers take oaths. Once you take an oath, you form a covenant.

Many have taken senseless oaths in ignorant times, and they have cleverly and secretly made covenants with affliction. All the “I swear I will never do this or that” when you do it will cause problems for you.

In Africa here, people form covenants with Mother Earth. They pour blood on it, libation on it, dig the earth, and put slices of all kinds of sacrifices into it. If a person who made such a covenant now breaks that covenant, maybe by getting born again and not following the terms of the covenant, the person will have trouble. He will be afflicted by the demons of the earth because they were sitting down quietly; he went there to make a covenant with them.

So they will be troubling the person wherever he goes. Anything that somebody gets to bury on your behalf, like a placenta, has very serious implications. Whatever it is, it is a very serious matter indeed.

Any covenant that has kept you stagnant, any covenant of affliction, I command them to be broken, in the name of Jesus. 

Close your eyes where you are and bow your head. Look back to your father’s and mother’s houses. Are there any covenants that have been formed that you do not know about that are currently troubling you? Are there covenants your parents made when you were a child or in the womb that are currently troubling your destiny?

Say, Father, even if I do not know them, let the blood of Jesus begin to wipe them away now, in the name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINTS.

[Before Message.]

1. Problems that will consume good things in my life, die in the name of Jesus.
2. Wherever my glory has fallen, be lifted now, in the name of Jesus.
3. Strange powers chasing away my miracles, expire, in the name of Jesus.
4. Every coven gathered to destroy me, destroy yourselves, in the name of Jesus.
5. Where is the Lord God of Elijah? Arise, give me a breakthrough that will rubbish my enemies, in the name of Jesus.
6. Owners of evil loads, I am not your candidate; carry your load in the name of Jesus.
7. Tongues of wicked elders assigned against me, dry up, in the name of Jesus.
8. I crush to powder, any power that wants to cover my glory, in the name of Jesus.

[After Message.]

1. Covenant of affliction of my father’s and mother’s house; I am not your candidate; break, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every enemy arising at the next level of my life, you are a liar; die in the name of Jesus.
3. Every voice mocking my prayers, you are liars; die in the name of Jesus.
4. Evil covenants at the gate of my laughter, catch fire, in the name of Jesus.
5. Fire of God, swallow every shame in my family, in the name of Jesus. 
6. My breakthroughs, in the warehouse of the enemy, come out by fire, in the name of Jesus. 
7. (Pray this three hot times) Powers that vowed to pursue me to the grave, die, in the name of Jesus. (a sevenfold amen).
