Topic: DEALING WITH VAIN LABOUR SYNDROME (2)
Text: Luke 5:1–7; John 21:1-6

Last week, I began to explain that total healing is complete healing; it is all-round healing, and I told you that there can be spiritual sickness, career sickness, marital sickness, and emotional sickness; sicknesses are not just physical. We started looking at something last week, dealing with another sickness called ‘vain labour’.

And we read scripture. Today, we take it a little bit further. The prayers today are extraordinary and not to be joked with. Even if you do not feel concerned, it will concern somebody who concerns you. So pray hard. Today is not to be joked with in a situation like this.

Luke 5:1-2 (KJV) says: “And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.”

They had finished for the day.

Luke 5:3-5 (KJV) continues: “And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people to get out of the ship. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.”

They laboured in vain. They toiled throughout the night.

Luke 5:6 (KJV) says: “And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.”

● May you experience a net-breaking breakthrough, in the name of Jesus.
● Receive a net-breaking breakthrough in the name of Jesus.

The breakthrough became too much for them to handle alone.

● May your breakthrough be like that, in the name of Jesus.

Luke 5:7 (KJV) tells us: “And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.”

These were men who were there all night, labouring in vain, catching nothing. But then somebody entered their boats, and the entrance of that somebody into that boat gave them not only net-breaking miracles but ship-sinking miracles. Jesus would have thought that Peter learnt from this, but the same occurrence repeated itself. Jesus had told Peter in Luke 5: “I will make you fisher of men, instead of fisher of fish.” In John 21, Jesus had been crucified, and the disciples had been scattered all over. So here is what happened:

John 21:1-3a (KJV) “After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself. There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing.”

For 3 years, Peter followed Jesus; he was no longer fishing. So after Jesus’ death, he went again.

John 21:3b (KJV): “They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.”

And again, they caught nothing. Just like before, it happened again.

John 21:4-6 (KJV) “But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.”

From these two passages, several things are very clear:

1. There was failure where it should not have been. You teaching other people to pass exams and failing them yourself is not supposed to be.
2. These men were skilled and experienced fishermen, meaning that the fact that you know the thing, you have the experience, you trained in England or America, and you studied under the best person in the field does not mean that the person cannot labour in vain. This is why I said today’s prayers are not ordinary because there are so many people looking at me here; if everything they caught in their hands had stayed, they would be billionaires by now. But then they get and lose. They capture, they drop. The Yoruba call it ‘Amubo’. The Igbos call it ‘aka nkata’ – meaning basket hand, capture, lose.
3. These people were fishing in familiar waters. They knew where the fish were, yet there was a problem. Meaning that the person may be the best and know the thing well. But then it becomes a tragedy when somebody you taught a business to do has now totally overshadowed you. This is where you need anger to pray.
4. These men were using the right equipment, yet they had problems.
5. They had been working at the right time. The right time for fishermen is at night because during the day, sunlight on the waters makes the fish go down, but at night, when there is darkness, they come up. So they were working at the right time.
6. They were working hard. They were not lazy men. There is no way a lazy man can be a fisherman. If they were lazy, they would be sleeping at home.
7. They had been successful in the past. If they had never been successful, they would not have come to fish.
8. They had failure with no explanation.
9. In spite of their failure, they did not decide to stop fishing. They were still washing their nets and hoping to try again.

I am going to say a prayer now. Let your amen be louder than anyone around you:

● Any power that wants people to be telling you, “Sorry, you have failed this time; try again,” let that power die, in the name of Jesus.

10. It was not that there were no fishes. The fishes were there, but a force decided to make the water unprofitable to them. It is not like there is nobody in the market to buy things, but a force can decide to make nobody buy from a particular person. Therefore, the commandment of Jesus must have seemed very ridiculous to them, having worked all night and caught nothing. Why? Asking them to do the very thing they had been doing.

They already fished in the same waters. They had been there all night, tired, exhausted, and hungry. It was day, not night. They were already cleaning their nets to put them away. They must have wondered what Jesus knew about fishing anyway. After all, Jesus learnt carpentry, not fishing.

So, beloveth, a lot of people are working really hard but getting nowhere. You must lose your temper with those powers that make your reward not commensurate with your efforts.

A lot of people have spiritual holes in their hands, leaking their blessings. Many are trying to fish in the ocean of life, but they catch nothing. It is a sickness. Healing is required. Some are using clubs, their hands, spears, nets, and hooks, but they catch nothing. A lot of people are millionaires in their dreams; they are prosperous in their dreams, but physically, they work without gain. Many are progressing into poverty.

● I am praying for somebody here: Any power that wants you to be an extension of the poverty of your father’s house shall be buried tonight, in the name of Jesus.

There are many who labour every day, but the labour goes to Pharaoh, just like the labour of the Israelites went to Pharaoh. When somebody is sick of vain labour syndrome,

• The person works very hard but does not gather very much.
• He has nothing to show for the hard work.
• He is never rewarded commensurately with his labour.
• He works like an elephant and eats like an ant.
• He has constant failures in examinations after working so hard.
• There is nothing to show for hard work after public or self-employment. Some people call it profitless hard work. It is a sign that there is a sickness called vain labour syndrome.
• There is fishing and catching nothing.
• There is running with uncertainty. It is a major tragedy.

Recently, lots of women are ending up in psychiatric hospitals, and part of the reason is that they married a man when he was in poverty, so they struggled together with him, and now that the man is rich, he then decided to abandon them that sweated and stayed with him from the beginning. Then one marine girl somewhere is now enjoying what this woman worked for all her life.

● I am praying for somebody here: Any follow-follow spirit that wants to be following you to empty your labour and steal what you have worked for, with a 21-fold amen, bury them in the name of Jesus.

Part of the vain labour syndrome is:

• also failure at the edge of breakthrough.
• Missing great opportunities.
• For somebody to have a divine gift and it is slipping out of your hands
• Goodness finishing before getting to your hand. 200 forms are brought in for people to fill out and get breakthroughs, but the person comes in as number 201.
• Frustration.
• Discouragement.
• When your helpers start losing interest in you. Many times in my counselling sessions, I have felt sorry for some people. A president, governor, or minister may know them; they always know important people, but those people do not want to help them. It is when their helpers leave the place of power or authority that they can gain access. When they had the capacity, they did not want to pick up their calls or see them.

● I am praying for somebody here: Any power that wants your helpers to run away, we bury them tonight, in the name of Jesus.

When this syndrome is at work,

• Something will be provoking the person to settle for less, and immediately he gets a small breakthrough, they launch terrible attacks, which will come and begin to swallow the breakthroughs. He will say that the money has finished. Meaning that the breakthrough has expired and another one will not show up.

It is when some men have one small amount of money in their hands that the enemy will just programme one strange woman from somewhere. Sometimes, it may be a woman who has had 4 children with four different men. And the man will squander all that money on that woman while his children at home cannot pay school fees. What kind of demon is this that will blind a man like this? It is what we are talking about.

• For some, it is constant sickness and disease. They do very well at interviews; they even tell them that they are the best, but they will not be given the job. It is then given to a less qualified person.
• for some, this power chases good things away from them. Some of these people work so hard, but if God opens your eyes, you find that all the benefits they are getting are going to the bank of family idols. In case you do not know, family idols have banks where they store people’s breakthroughs.

● I am praying for somebody here: those your family idols that are angry with you that you are serving Jesus and are now capturing the things that will draw you back to them, receive your deliverance, in the name of Jesus.

When this spirit is at work,

• such people are constantly in debt. No matter the amount of money, they eventually run into debt again. I know somebody who made 26 million naira profit in January. By July, he had 6,000 naira. Sometimes when the enemy wants to attack people with this disease, he gives you the wrong business partner, then you invest capital, and everything just disappears.
• It makes people to lose despite their best efforts.
• It makes people who are supposed to help you drain you instead of contributing to your progress and development.

Are you here and have a very good product but no patronage? It is this thing we are talking about. My father used to have a friend who gathered all his retirement money and opened a fantastic bakery. When you are coming from the beginning of the street, you will be perceiving the aroma of the bread, yet nobody goes there to buy bread. But there was another bakery on the same street. If you buy that bread, you will smell palm wine on it. It was a very terrible bread. It was there that everyone would gather and buy.

So my father got worried and said, “Can I have some of the bread that you make?” So he gave my daddy the bread. My daddy brought it home. We all ate it, and it was very nice, but then the disease was there of labouring without favour and labouring in vain. The spirits of stagnancy instead of advancement, fishing with nothing to show for, working hard without advancement, financial coffins, and slow progress were at work. These are spirits of vain labour.

Are you here and

• you always dream of picking money on the floor? It is that spirit.
• your parents have dedicated you to strange powers. You are not serving the strange powers, and they are angry with you?
• you have slippery breakthroughs?
  -you have the death of helpers?
• you always depart from the place of blessings? You are always in the right place at the wrong time and the wrong place at the right time.
• you are being pursued by mysterious swallowers?
• you have human rats all around?
• you have a maintenance failure?

You need to pray today, and that is why we are here today at this meeting. If you are here and are passing through all this, you need to attack these powers, and wage war against profitless hard work. You have to surrender your life to Jesus today.

PRAYER POINTS.

TOTAL HEALING (5).
Confession: Isaiah 53:5: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

1. O God of all flesh, heal me wherever I need to be healed, in the name of Jesus.
2. I command total restoration and healing to take place in every area of my life, in the name of Jesus.
3. O God of restoration, replace in me whatever needs to be replaced, in the name of Jesus.
4. I break every demonic bondage to any evil pattern, in the name of Jesus.
5. O God of transformation, transform in me whatever needs to be transformed, in the name of Jesus.
6. I release myself from the curse of pains and poverty, in the name of Jesus.
7. I pull down any evil stronghold built into my life by any person in charge of me as an infant, in the name of Jesus.
8. I pull down the stronghold of every evil dedication assigned to destroy my destiny, in the name of Jesus.
9. I release myself from the spirit of retrogression, in the name of Jesus.
10. All evil words spoken against my progress in life, be nullified, in the name of Jesus.
11. I cut myself off from every territorial spirit, in the name of Jesus.
12. I rebuke every devourer attached to my finances, in the name of Jesus.
13. Where is the Lord God of Elijah? Arise and let Your fire consume every darkness in every area of my life, in the name of Jesus.
14. I lose myself from the bondage of profitless hard work, in the name of Jesus.
15. O Lord, let all evil enquiries about my life be rendered null and void, in the name of Jesus.
16. Any sin in my life that is bringing sickness to me, die, in the name of Jesus.
17. Holy Ghost fire, purge the foundation of my life, in the name of Jesus.
18. O Lord, let the power of revival fall upon my body, soul, and spirit, in Jesus’ name.
19. Every evil food causing sickness in my body, come out and die, in Jesus’ name.
20. Every curse afflicting my destiny, be broken by the blood of Jesus, in Jesus’ name.
21. Every root of affliction in my life, dry up by fire, in the name of Jesus.

[After Message]

1. Powers of get-and-lose, your end has come in my life today, die, in the name of Jesus.
2. Power to labour in vain, die, in the name of Jesus.
3. Badluck, I am not your candidate; die in the name of Jesus.
4. O God, arise, backdate my promotion, in the name of Jesus.
5. My stolen blessings; hear the Word of the Lord; locate me by fire, in the name of Jesus.
6. Owners of profitless hard work, hear the Word of the Lord, carry your load in the name of Jesus.
