Topic: WHEN THE ENEMY FLEES
Text: Deuteronomy 28:7
Minister: Dr. Daniel Olukoya (G.O. MFM Worldwide)
Deuteronomy 28:7 (KJV) says: “The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.”
Now look closely at that verse above. “The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face”, meaning that the Lord will not tell the enemies not to rise up. They will rise up before your face, but the Lord will cause them to be smitten. Then “they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.”
● If that is your lot, let your amen roar like thunder.
There are two kinds of storms of life. There are:
- Divine storm.
- Satanic storm.
Divine storm comes:
- To test our patience: The Lord has a timing for fulfilling His plans and purposes. Often, His plans take much longer than we think. In the meantime, we go through all kinds of tests of our patience. The test of that patience will show you how you can patiently wait for the Lord. That is why the Bible says, “The testing of your faith works patience”.
- As a test of your faith: When you are in the middle of pain and suffering and you still keep believing in God, that is the test of your faith.
- As a test of love: trials can test our love. Trials can reveal what or whom we love the most. They will reveal our priorities and desires. The Lord wants us to love Him above all things. Jesus turned to Peter and asked, “Simon, son of Jonas, lovest me than all these?” Peter replied, “You know that I love you”. Jesus then said to him, “Feed my sheep”. Jesus asked him the second and third time. Peter was very unhappy that He was asking the question the third time, but Jesus’ parting words were “feed my sheep”.
- As a test of endurance: God wants to know how much you can endure or whether you will give up easily.
- As a test of humility: the Lord humbles us by making us go through seasons of trials. He wants us to be humble. Some people would never humble themselves if not for the trials and temptations they faced.
- As a test of our sacrifice: God wants to know whether you can sacrifice everything for Him. It comes as a test, like He did to Abraham.
- As a test of obedience: whether you are willing to obey God to the letter.
But then there is a satanic storm. A Satanic storm is a storm prepared by the enemy. Once it is a storm prepared by the enemy, then you have to wage war against the enemy and make the enemy flee. I want you to spend a few minutes this morning losing your temper with the enemy.
But first, who is the enemy? The enemy is:
- any power, spirit, force, or personality working against the fulfilment of your destiny.
- Every power sabotaging the assignment of God for your life.
- Any power that hates your desire to increase.
- Any power that is unhappy over your progress.
- Any power strengthening those things that God wants to remove from your life.
- Any power increasing your doubt and killing your faith.
- The snares prepared to cage you.
- That domestic opposition spreading your information to the enemy.
But situations could happen, beloveth, when the enemy flees. The Bible says in Psalms 68:1 (KJV): “Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.”
● There is somebody here this morning: the large volume of enemies gathered against you, hear the Word of the Lord: they shall scatter unto desolation, In the name of Jesus.
The psalmist says, “They encompasseth around me, but they are quenched by the fire of thorns. For in the name of the Lord, I will destroy them.” Now, what are the situations when the enemy flees?
- When he is not welcome. No welcoming party, No landing space—the enemy flees.
- When there is no sin to cling to in your life. Many of us are looking for enemies outside but the real enemy is the sin in us which the enemy is clinging to. When the enemy comes to you, if there is nothing to cling to, they go away. But once they come and you give them a landing space, they will land. For example, if you are coming to our meetings and still have a violent temper, the enemy will not flee from your life. You will say, “Get out in the name of Jesus”, he will reply, “I cannot go; there is still anger or lust inside you”.
- When he is not honoured with too much concern. That is, you ignore him. He flees when you do that.
- When you become violent. The Bible says, “The violent taketh it by force.”
● There is somebody here who will exercise Holy violence, and all your foundational enemies shall scatter, in the name of Jesus.
- When God’s truth is proclaimed, because he is the father of lies. So when somebody is now proclaiming the truth, he runs away.
- When there is fire of the Holy Ghost. Say “fire!”.
- When your weapons are superior to his. He will flee. That is why you need to know all the spiritual weapons to fight in your spiritual battles, like:
- The blood of Jesus.
- Sword of God.
- Fire of the Holy Ghost.
- Brimstone.
- Arrows of God.
- Carpenters of God.
- Angels of God, etc.
- When your strength is superior.
- When those who are with you are more than those who are with them. The angels of God are in trillion fold. Just one of them was able to eliminate 185,000 soldiers. So when you are surrounded by many of them, and the Bible says “the angels of God encompasseth around them that fear Him”, the enemy will flee.
- When his best weapon has no effect on you.
- When the awareness of your spiritual superiority eventually dawns on you.
- When you capture or destroy their champion. By the time Goliath went down, the Philistines fled.
● I prophesy upon the life of somebody here today: The Goliath that is leading the enemies against you, shall fall down and die, in the name of Jesus. Your Goliath shall die, in the name of Jesus.
The enemy flees:
- When you strike harder than he does,.
- When your knowledge of warfare is superior to his own. He knows that you are more knowledgeable, so he flees.
- When he knows that you are not afraid of death. The greatest thing he can use to threaten you is death, and once he finds out that you are not even afraid of that, he flees.
- When you disarm him.
● I pray that all the weapons of your enemy shall be rendered powerless this morning, In the name of Jesus.
- When you cut off his source of power.
Many years ago, before MFM even started, we went somewhere to evangelise at Otto, close to Oyingbo in Lagos. As we were preaching the gospel, a native doctor came out and said, “You people, I do not want to hear your voice again. If you speak again, I will catch your voices, and you will not talk again.” We turned to him and said, “Where is the juju you want to use to catch our voices?” He put his hand in his pocket and brought out something that looked like a big cowry, and I asked him, “Do you have a stronger one? Because this one is too weak, it is just a giant cowry.”
He said, “Hmm, if you allow me to go and bring that stronger one, it will be worse than catching your voice o. It means all of you are going to die.” I said, “Where is that one?” He replied, “It is inside the house”. I said, “Do you have an even stronger one?” He said, “It is like these boys are not serious. Okay, you will see now.” He ran inside to bring something. He started issuing incantations, and we were just carefully watching him. After he had finished, he said, “I have seized your voices”. I then said, “Everything you have said now, we cancel by the blood of Jesus.” And we continued talking.
He said, “What?!” And ran back inside, brought out another one, and started again. I repeated what I said; “Everything you have said now, we cancel by the blood of Jesus.” Again, it was useless. By that time, Lagosians had started surrounding us and were hailing us, saying, “Yes, he is always making noise in our street. Now look at how all these small boys are disgracing him”. I asked again: “Do you have an even stronger one?” He just looked at us and muttered, ‘bastards’. Then he walked off. When you cut off their source of power, they become powerless and flee. Let somebody with holy anger raise up their right hand and shout:
● Power base of my enemy, hear the word of the Lord: die, in the name of Jesus.
This is a serious matter, and I want you to understand it very well. The enemy flees:
- when the fear of you comes upon them.
- When you bring down the fire of God. They said to Elijah, “Man of God, come down”, and he replied, “I am not coming down, let fire come down”.
- When you get involved in aggressive praises. Nobody likes to stay where they are praising his enemy, so when you are praising God, all those demons and dark powers run away because they do not like it.
Listen carefully: why am I sharing this message here this morning? The Lord said, “In the service of this morning, some people are going to be here that the enemy has converted their dream life to a battle front, and that the battle front must terminate today”. The Lord said, “There are people in this service today that the enemy has given blows and blows and already has their backs against the wall, but this morning, instead of the enemy flattening them to the wall, they shall pursue the enemy!”
The Lord said that there will be people in the service this morning who have practically given up hope that there is no other way. He said that He would move on behalf of them this morning. The Lord said that there will be people here this morning and that I should warn them to pray hard; that already the congregation of witchcraft in their house has concluded to finish them up, but that if such people will pray, all those witches need to either repent or die one by one. The Lord said, “There are people in this service today whose correct lives have been stolen. They need to repossess that correct life this morning.”
