Topic: CRUSHING THE DREAMS OF POVERTY
Text: 3 John 1:2, 2 Corinthians 8:9
Minister: Dr. Daniel Olukoya (G.O. MFM Worldwide)

This is a message that will transport your life to a high level, and it will help you to break every stronghold of poverty.

3 John 1:2 (KJV) says: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”

So we see three levels of prosperity:

  • financial prosperity,
  • health prosperity,
  • soul prosperity.

We also have three levels of poverty from that scripture:

  • financial poverty,
  • health poverty,
  • soul poverty.

2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV): “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”

Jesus was the richest man who ever lived. Listen carefully, beloveth: there are 22 kinds of poverty. Do not think that poverty is only about not having money. If you do not have physical money but are spiritually rich, you have everything.

WHAT ARE THE 22 KINDS OF POVERTY?

  1. Chronic poverty: Even if you give those kinds of people two hundred million naira to sell ordinary biscuits, very soon they will become penniless.
  2. Transient poverty: money moves in and out. You get two thousand naira, then you acquire a problem of ten thousand naira.
  3. Geographical poverty: if you come from a village where there is no single-story building because anyone who tries to build one usually dies inside it, your village is geographically poor.

If you come from such a village or town where they have formed a covenant that all indigenes must be poor, receive your deliverance in the name of Jesus.

  1. Absolute poverty: in marriage, poverty, in money, poverty, in religion, poverty, in academics, poverty. Everything is poverty. No school, house, vision, revelation, church—nothing.
  2. Mental poverty: when they say “1 + 1” and you say “zero,” then something has gone wrong.
  3. Emotional poverty: any small thing that happens, you break down and start crying; any small thing that happens, you get carried away. Simply because a man came and cried to you, saying, “See how my wife has been treating me; this is suffering,” you too started crying. That is poverty. Emotional poverty can carry a person away.
  4. Spiritual poverty: vision, none, dreams; none, voices; none, salvation; none, justification; none. There are many people who come to MFM like that and are spiritually poor because they are not flowing with us.
  5. Financial poverty: the person who has no money is poor, but the person who has nothing but money is even poorer.
  6. Poverty of ideas.
  7. Social poverty: poverty of good friends. A person can be a social pauper.
  8. Poverty of power: that is, you have no power. A sister came to me shaking and saying, “G.O., please pray for me. I followed my friend to a prophet, and instead of him addressing my friend, he turned to me and said, ‘You, this woman, you will soon die’. G.O., please pray oo”. I said, “I am not praying. Go back to that prophet and tell him, ‘It is you who will die’. She said, ‘ah!’ I said, “That is the only way.” So she went. When she arrived there, the prophet asked, “So have you brought the bell and candles? She replied, “Prophet, no candle or bell. My G.O. said, I should tell you that it is you who will die”. She was even not bold enough to go declare it herself.
  9. Poverty of peace: of all the gifts that God gives to man, peace is the best. He said, “My peace I give to you, not as the world giveth”.
  10. Poverty of knowledge: what the Bible calls ignorance. Ignorance is disgraceful poverty.
  11. Defence poverty: the person is not divinely protected.
  12. Destiny poverty: that is, poverty of purpose. Poverty of purpose is worse than poverty of money.
  13. Poverty of good dreams: the poorest of all men is the man without a dream. Every man or woman who must fulfil destiny must have his or her own “Joseph’s dream.” Joseph had his dream—he knew that he was going to be a shining star.

You shall have your Joseph’s dream, in the name of Jesus.

  1. Poverty of principles: you have no principles. If they say “do not do”, you do.
  2. Verbal poverty: the person has verbal diarrhoea, just like Zechariah in the Bible.
  3. Poverty of imagination: You do not ever imagine good things; it is always bad things.
  4. Poverty of health.
  5. Poverty of character: when a person is suffering from character disorder, he is a poor man. No matter how anointed you are, if your character is bad, you will fail! Your character is what you are in the dark when nobody can see you.
  6. Poverty of attitude: Your attitude is your mindset; it is your disposition. If you have a negative attitude, you are really a poor person.

On Dreams: Your dreams are your spiritual monitor. They tell you what is going on in your life in the spirit realm. A dream is a revelation. It is like a window that opens into the spirit realm. There are over 100 poverty dreams. I will cover as many as I can before we begin to pray.

If you have been having any of these kinds of dreams or have dreamt of them before, you have to pray like a mad prophet here tonight:

  1. Dreaming of doing odd jobs: it shows that you have a covenant with slavery, hardship, and servitude.
  2. Falling from heights: shows you that the enemy will allow you to rise up, then he will cause one problem that will bring you right down.
  3. Falling into a pit: means that the enemy will allow the person to move freely for a little bit. Then he makes the person sink, and you do not hear from the person anymore. This is what happened to so many businesses.

I decree tonight: any power that wants you to fall into a pit shall fall inside, in the name of Jesus.

  1. Seeing yourself in a cage: it is a dream of poverty.
  2. Seeing yourself chained: it is a dream of poverty. It signifies serious limitations.
  3. Seeing yourself in very dirty places: another dream of poverty.
  4. Seeing yourself climbing mountains but never getting to the top: it is a dream of poverty.
  5. Seeing yourself in your former house that you left many years ago: it is a dream of retrogression. The enemy wants to send you back.
  6. Seeing yourself in your former school back in the small classroom you were when you were in primary school: another dream of poverty.
  7. Writing examinations that you have already passed before: is a dream of poverty.
  8. Urinating on your hands or legs: a dream of poverty.
  9. Seeing yourself in rags or tattered dresses.
  10. Seeing yourself begging for alms in the dream.
  11. Seeing yourself drowning in a river.
  12. Seeing rats running all over your house or eating your food in the dream is a dream of poverty.
  13. Seeing yourself being arrested by the police or some evil powers: is a dream, referring to any of those 22 classes of poverty.
  14. Seeing unknown powers demanding your property or belongings.
  15. Seeing yourself being summoned by an evil court.
  16. Seeing yourself being questioned for your progress: “Who asked you to get to this stage?” and questions like that are dreams of poverty.
  17. Seeing yourself as a slave or house help: a dream of poverty.
  18. Seeing yourself being regularly raped in the dream: a dream of poverty.
  19. Seeing yourself receive evil letters or evil news: is a dream of poverty.
  20. Seeing yourself lost in a forest. You tried to find your way home, but you could not. It is a dream of poverty.
  21. Seeing yourself being kidnapped.
  22. Seeing yourself crying and crying in the dream: it is a dream of poverty.
  23. Seeing robbers attacking and stealing from you in the dream: is a dream of poverty.
  24. Being asked to sign evil documents: is a dream of poverty.
  25. Being shown animals like goats or dogs about to be sacrificed in the dream, is a dream of poverty.
  26. Being flogged or pursued is a dream to cover any of those 22 dreams of poverty.
  27. Being made to prostrate or serve a manual punishment in the dream, is a dream of poverty.
  28. Being told that an inanimate object represents you in the dream, is a dream of poverty.
  29. Seeing your properties on fire is a dream of poverty.
  30. Seeing an unknown person coming into your facility and demanding that you hand it over, is a dream of poverty.
  31. Spending money lavishly in the dream is a dream of poverty.
  32. Anytime you receive some good money or do some good business, you dream of buying something in the market. It is a dream of poverty.
  33. Wearing tattered shoes, is a dream of poverty.
  34. Walking about barefootedly is a dream of poverty.
  35. Seeing yourself with unsold goods that nobody is buying, is a dream of poverty.
  36. Seeing your properties being auctioned is a dream of poverty.
  37. Seeing your pockets leaking in the dream is a dream of poverty.
  38. Losing substantial money in the dream and never finding it is a dream of poverty.
  39. Suffering from the hands of pickpockets in the dreams is a dream of poverty.
  40. Seeing termites attacking your property is a dream of poverty.
  41. Looking for your bag, purse, or passbook in the dream and not finding them: is a dream of poverty.
  42. Finding yourself with counterfeit money in the dream is a dream of poverty.

All these things I am mentioning as dreams of poverty mean any of those 22 classes of poverty, or some of them, or all of them, or just a multiple form of poverty. They are all dreams of any form of poverty. If you have been having any of these dreams, or you had them before, or you have them occasionally, you need to do very serious warfare. You must understand, beloveth, that anything existing in the physical can be blocked in the spiritual realm. If somebody’s money has been spiritually removed, then all his physical money is just pieces of paper.

This is why we need some serious prayers here today. Are you in this meeting tonight, and you have been having these poverty dreams? You find that you cannot even keep a regular job. You cannot eat normal food. You lose your money anyhow. You are regularly duped. You are a regular victim of thieves. You have a womanising talent that is taking away your money. You are going to commercial prostitutes. All these show that there is poverty hanging at the door.
