Topic: THE SCHOOL OF DREAMS (2)
Text: 1 Kings 3:5–13, Genesis 37:5–9, Matthew 2:18–20
Minister: Dr. Daniel Olukoya (G.O. MFM Worldwide)
Last week, we started a series, and like I said then, I encourage you to follow up on these teachings and not miss the meetings because you do not know when your own case will come. I began to explain that dreams are natural to man.
We began to look at certain facts about dreams, how God speaks, and how God guides us through dreams. We continue today again. You will do well to be very attentive so you can understand the depth of these messages.
● May the Lord appear in your dream, in the name of Jesus. (a sevenfold powerful amen)
1 Kings 3:5 (KJV) says: “In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.”
What a wonderful dream! For you to sleep and see Jesus coming to you and saying, “Ask me anything.”.
1 Kings 3:6–13 (KJV) says: “And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.”
All these took place in a dream. There is a lot that needs to be known about the subject of dreams. But unfortunately, only a few of them are taught behind the pulpit about this matter, which we have to deal with practically every day. The books written worldwide about dreams from a Christian angle are not many.
There are 224 references in the Bible that have to do with dreams and visions alone. There are 34 dreams and visions mentioned in the Bible; 22 of them are in the Old Testament, 6 of them are in the Gospels, and the remaining 6 came after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit (from Acts 3).
Or did the Bible not say, “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:”?
From that period on, other dreams followed. Here in our working scripture, we see Solomon. Somebody who went to bed with no shining star. Somebody who went to bed with no intelligence, per se. He has no power to fight for himself. He had just natural wisdom. But while he was sleeping in bed, something happened to him. God visited him and gave him wisdom. When he woke up, he became a totally different man. He slept as somebody who knew nothing and woke up as the wisest man on earth.
Meaning that something could happen in your dream that could affect your life forever. What happens in your dream can affect your life forever when you wake up. This is a serious matter that will drive us into an aggressive session of prayer now because of the unfortunate story of a sister.
This sister did not know about warfare. She did not understand what we were saying now. She thought that all dreams were just like that, with nothing to worry about. She dreamt that she was breastfeeding a strange baby.
All of a sudden, she dreamt that the baby bit her breast. She pushed the baby away. By the time she woke up, the breasts had begun to swell. Before we could say Jesus is Lord, the breast had become very big. She went to the hospital, and the doctor said that it was cancer. All this from the dream she had days ago.
The tragedy was that, in 3 weeks, she was dead. An arrow of death was fired in the dream. It manifested in the physical. Can you raise up your right hand to the heavenlies, and as aggressively as your voice can carry you, shout this. Do not negotiate, because this prayer will bring deliverance and healing:
● Arrows fired into my body in the dream, backfire, in the name of Jesus.
● Power of dead relatives in my dreams, die in the name of Jesus.
When you dream a dream in one night and it repeats itself, like twice or three times, it is an indication that attention is needed quickly and that whatever you are seeing is established and settled. If it is positive, thank God; but if it is negative, you need to work on it seriously, because very shortly, such dreams come to pass.
● This is why I decree that any repeated evil dream that anyone is having and the consequences thereof, must die, in the name of Jesus.
So when you have a dream, if it is from God, it is time to rejoice and prepare. But if it is a dream from the devil, it must be dealt with. So God, in His mercy, allows us to dream so that we can know what has happened before. God, in His mercy, allows us to dream so that we can know what is happening right now. God, in His mercy, allows us to dream to show us what is going to happen.
To show you:
- what has happened,
- what is happening,
- what is going to happen.
These are the three reasons He comes to us to tell us. That was how dreams predicted the future of Joseph.
Genesis 37:5–9 (KJV): “And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed: For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf. And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words. And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.”
So dreams can predict our future. They reveal the deeper meaning of our lives. When you come to the school of dreams, one person you can study very well is Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus. He had his first dream. In that dream, he was told to accept Mary, who was already pregnant of the Holy Spirit, as his wife. He obeyed God and married Mary. After the marriage of Jesus, Herod became jealous and sought to terminate the life of Jesus. Joseph had another dream.
Matthew 2:18–20 (KJV) says: “In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life.”
God said, “They are dead, which sought the young child’s life.” “They”. But it was only Herod that we read that was seeking the life of the child. But it was in that dream that Joseph knew that the enemies were many and not just Herod; that Herod was just a front; there were the “They” behind it. So Joseph got up after that dream and left. These were three dreams that Joseph had. These dreams guided this man. We will continue next time.
● May you have a dream that will catapult your destiny, in the name of Jesus.
