Topic: THE MASTER IS COME!
Text: John 11:1-7, 11-12, 28, 34-44
Minister: Dr. Daniel Olukoya (G.O. MFM Worldwide)

John 11:1 (KJV) says: “Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.”

(It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)

Verse 2-7 “Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was. Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.”

John 11:11-12, 28 (KJV) says: “These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.”

Why is Jesus referred to as Master? For several reasons:
– He is a teacher who teaches with authority, an instructor.
– He is the Healer.
– He offers spiritual guidance. Remember when He appeared to Peter by the sea and he told Peter “Throw your net on the right-hand side”? Peter said, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing.”
– He carries divine authority. He spoke with the voice of God.
– He is the Lord of Lords. The Greek word from which ‘Master’ came, “Kurios,” also means “Lord” or “Owner.”
– He is a Rescuer, a Deliverer. He said, “I have come to preach deliverance to the captives.”
– He is a Commander, an Overseer.
– He is a Leader.

Here, Lazarus was described as somebody Jesus loved. He was a friend of Jesus, but he was sick. If he was a friend of Jesus, why then should he be sick? Can he whom Jesus loves be sick? The whole family was a friend of Jesus.

Herein comes the first lesson we should pick from the passage: The presence of the Lord does not mean you have been excluded from the battles of life. Every man has a battle to fight. The storm of life is a strange person. It is universal. It has no respect. Unfortunately, when problems arise, some people break down while others break records. Like we prayed this morning, raise up your right hand and shout this as a warrior; let the gates of hell hear you:

I shall not surrender; I shall not give up; my problems shall give up, in the name of Jesus. (shout it 3 loud times).

The Bible says, “For a just man falleth seven times and riseth again,” therefore I decree upon the life of somebody here:

If the enemy has dragged you to the floor, rise up and shine, in the name of Jesus.

Sickness is not death, but sickness can lead to death. This is why no sickness should be ignored. There are physical and spiritual sicknesses. The worst sicknesses are the spiritual ones. Your pride may be a spiritual sickness, but you may excuse that pride as a slight stomach disorder that will soon go away. You may ignore it until it becomes more critical. Your sickness may be anger, may be bad tongue, may be unforgiveness. But the truth is this: one little physical or spiritual sickness ignored can lead to death. Jesus said, “This sickness is not unto death.” Those words of Jesus melted away the power of the sickness.

Can you raise up your right hand again and say:
O Lord, speak death unto every sickness in my life, in the name of Jesus.

When the Lord speaks unto sickness, it loses its power. I do not know who you are. Has your enemy cast you into a furnace of fire? Before you leave this place today, there shall be a fourth man in that fire. Your worst can still become your best. Now from this passage, the Lord never panics. It is you that is panicking. Jesus gave Satan and death extra time of four more days to perfect their worst. Jesus is the Master, and He can destroy in one moment what satan has been building for years. Jesus arrived when all hope was lost.

● So shall it be for somebody here, that although men have looked at you and concluded that there is no hope, they shall look at you and know that your God is not late, in the name of Jesus.

No hope is lost as far as God is concerned. You are ripe for a miracle. In one day, with a few words, Jesus undid what satan through sickness, death, and the grave, had taken so long to accomplish. One of my favourite passages in scriptures says, “For this cause was the Son of God made manifest, that He might destroy the works of darkness.” He will undo what the enemy has done. Lazarus was already secured with a padlock and bolt. It does not matter how ancient your problems are that bring tears to your family; it does not matter how many generational sicknesses and death have enveloped you.

Hear this announcement: it will take the Master one day to rectify the problems. You know, years back, a man’s wife dragged him here because in the family he came from, nobody goes above 40 years old. And strangely in that family, it is easy to know the next person who will die. The person will have a strange dream that some people were carrying a coffin. Once they have had that dream, that is all. That is the next person to die. And once that person dies, the head of family is transferred to another person. No head of the family lived above 40 years. It was a generational problem. They were dying.

This woman, who was not an MFM member, woke up one morning and found the husband sitting on the bed, lost in thought and crying. She asked him, “Why are you crying?” He replied, “I had a dream.” She asked, “hei! I hope it is not that your family dream where you see people carrying  coffins?” He replied, “Unfortunately, it is.” The woman exclaimed, “Ah! You cannot die!” That is what dragged them to MFM, and deliverance and prayer started. And the major crux of deliverance sometimes is that you need to understand the root of what you are fighting against.

It was during the prayer that the Lord revealed that they had a powerful ancestor in his lineage and that when he died, 7 of his slaves who were below 40 were buried alive with him because they had the feeling that being a big man in the grave, he would need servants. So they buried these young men alive with him. As they were burying the young men, they were issuing curses that nobody in that family would live beyond 40 years, as they did not live up to 40. Now, we discovered the root, and prayer started. Only a few words from the Lord that the yoke is broken, and that was it. Only a few words from the Master will wipe away tears and restore joy. That man was the only member of that family that did not die before age 40.

I decree upon the life of somebody here today: The words that will catapult you to the next level, that will wipe away every tear and problem, the Master shall speak those words to you in the name of Jesus.

There was a storm in the sea that would have swallowed the disciples, but the Master was in the ship sleeping while they were panicking. They went to him and said, “Master, carest thou not that we perish?” and he came and spoke. He turned the great storm to a great calm with few words: “Be still.”

When Jesus arrives on a scene, He turns:
– storms into bliss,
– Tears into a smile,
– Sorrow into joy,
– Weeping to laughter,
– Pain to pleasure,
– Your night to day,
– Lamentation to laughter,
– Ashes to beauty,
– Frustration to fulfilment,
– Adversity to triumph,
– Failure to success,
– Poverty to prosperity,
– Destruction to construction,
– Scars to stars,
– Disgrace to grace,
– Weakness to strength.

When Jesus comes on the scene,
– Sickness becomes health,
– Death becomes life,
– Darkness turns into light,
– Losses turn into gains.

I need somebody who wants to touch the Master here today, to rise up on his feet and announce to your problems:

My problems, hear the Word of the Lord: the Master has come!!

Lazarus needed two kinds of miracles: deliverance from the hands of death, which only God could do, and removal of all the death clothes on his body, which men knew him by. That was why after Jesus had raised up from the dead, but he was bound in grave clothes, Jesus said “loose him and let him go”.

I am praying for anyone here that has spiritual grave clothes on their body: receive your deliverance now, in the name of Jesus.

John 11:34-35 (KJV): “And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept.”

Why did He cry? Because here is the resurrection and the life standing there, and they did not know.

John 11:36-44 (KJV) says: “Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died? Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.”

See two kinds of prayers. He faced His Father and said “Father I thank you, because you have heard me, you always hear me.” He talked to His Father reverently, respectfully with adoration. But by the time He turned around to the grave, to the spirit of death, the Bible did not say He prayed, the Bible said He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” That was spiritual warfare. Lazarus needed to be released from the spirit of death and hell, and it is not an assignment for gentle prayers. You do not pray gentleman prayers when facing the spirit of death and hell. There is a room for loud prayer. There is a room for crying prayers. Very soon, we are going to start the prophetic prayers.
