PRAYER SERVICE
Text: 2 Timothy 2:26
Minister: Dr. Daniel Olukoya (G.O. MFM Worldwide)

In 2 Timothy 2:26, we read a curious verse that will drive us into prayers here this morning. I want you to listen to me very carefully this morning.

2 Timothy 2:26 (KJV) says, “And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”

In 1965 at Akure, the great prophet Obadare used to hold a crusade. It was a six-month-long crusade. Every day and night, he was ministering for six months. You can see that those our early fathers were very strong. As a little boy at that time, I had a special seat at the crusade ground. At that crusade ground, there were no benches and chairs like we have now. What we had was bamboo kind of chairs. Three rows of bamboo would be fixed to a hold. Those were our chairs. I had a special seat by the pulpit where I always sat, and I made it a duty to always observe. I noticed a man that used to sit where I sat. He was very lean and would come to the meeting staggering and sit down by my side.

It was in this 1965, as a very small boy, that I began to learn the principles of aggressive prayers. It stuck to my mind and brain. As a little boy, I was drawn there. I was going every day. Even when my parents did not come, I would be there; I would find my way there. This man too kept coming. At the crusade, they would start a song, people would start singing, and then they would start prayers.

The most popular song at that crusade was

“Save me, and I shall be saved,

Heal me and I shall be healed”

It was that song that would start the prayer, and people would start singing and clapping. After some time, it was only that prayer point, “Heal me and I shall be healed, save me and I shall be saved,” that would be ringing loud.

This man, who always staggered to the meeting, would become very aggressive and shout immediately when prayer started. People would run away, but I would stay put and pray. After all, I was also praying. Then something happened that changed me one day. With the same prayer point, a being came from heaven and dropped. It started moving about. When it got to the front of some people, it would shake its head with the expression ‘what a pity.’ He would get to some and nod its head. Anything he got to this man by my side, he would nod, with the expression that he was trying. This man did not see the being. One day again the angel came after a week of us sitting together.

He nodded and clapped. The man began to vomit; I have never seen that kind of vomit before. It was as though he would vomit his intestines out. He began to vomit thick red meat like blood. It was at that young age too that I began to understand the action of eaters of flesh and drinkers of blood. By the next day, when we arrived at the crusade ground, someone was sitting beside me. I was looking around for the man, wondering whether he would not come that day. The man beside me smiled and said to me, “I am sure you are looking for me.” He said, “I am the one.” The dramatic change within 24 hours made me not recognise him again.

There is a situation where people roar in desperate prayers. Those prayers will always receive answers. There is somebody here this morning. If you can forget what that problem is telling you and roar to God in desperate prayers, you will be amazed at what will happen.

In 1979, in the church I was going to, we were all very poor. Only one person came to church with a Raleigh bicycle. The rest of us trekked to church. All of a sudden, one man joined our church. His name was Amos. He was an Igbo man. Our church did everything in Yoruba without translation. So I was puzzled at an Igbo man joining a fully Yoruba church. But there was something about Brother Amos that was different from the rest of us.

Once they called a prayer point, he would turn to the next person beside him and ask, “Wetin them talk?” When the person interpreted it, it was like he would run mad. Within two minutes, he would begin to sweat. It was as though his prayer was different from the rest of us. He kept coming to church. One night, he got home as usual, and the prayers he had heard from church, he prayed with aggression before going to bed. All of a sudden, an angel stood by his side and said to him, “Amos, because of the prayers you prayed now, I have come to deliver you from the poverty of your father’s house. Check under your pillow.” He removed the pillow and found a dead agama lizard.

The Angel said, “That is the poverty of your father’s house. This is why everyone in your family is poor. This spirit enters into them at birth. You are free today.” That was on a Sunday that he prayed the prayer. By the next Sunday, Brother Amos came to church in a Mercedes Benz. It became a film show because nobody in our church ever came in a car. This aggressive prayer warrior got results.

So if you like this morning, pray jokingly. But if you are desperate for prayers, and you apply a measure of violence and holiness, you will be set free. This is that morning to be aggressive. I started this learning in 1965, but some born in 1995 are saying that there is nothing like aggressive prayers. Last last, all of us will be wise.
