Topic: THE SOURCE OF YOUR HELP
Text: Psalms 121:1-8, Genesis 41:1-7, John 3:31, Ruth 1:1-6
Minister: Dr Daniel Olukoya (G.O. MFM Worldwide)

Psalms 121:1-8 (KJV) says: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”

Every other thing listed in that Psalm is hanging on verse 2, “My help cometh from the Lord, the Lord which made the heavens and earth.”

Some facts from the chapter we just read:

  1. The source of your help determines the life of your testimony. It determines how long or short your testimony will live.
  2. The devil has no free gift, not a single free gift for anyone.

I am gathering all these facts from the psalm we just read.

  1. The devil operates a primitive trade by barter. If you give him something, he gives you something. No free gift. The devil can remove tuberculosis from somebody and put HIV/AIDS in the person.
  2. Satan does not bless anyone because he has no blessing to give. So those of you who have your eyes on those who are doing dark things and think they are making it without God, they are not making it at all. In fact, eventually, they will pay interest. That is why the Bible says, “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich and added no sorrow.” Meaning there are a lot of riches and wealth with sorrow, once it comes from the devil.
  3. Whatever Satan gives is merely bait for getting back much more. You need to understand this very well so you will be able to know where we are going this morning.
  4. Satan’s food is never free, no matter how much charitably he has given it. If you have eaten anything from the table of the devil, you will vomit that thing and your intestines in addition.
  5. Satan’s food may taste very sweet, but it is costly to eat. Have you eaten anything from the table of the devil? It is better to drink the laxative of the Holy Spirit this morning and purge it out.
  6. You never know the cost of Satan’s food until you have consumed it. When they are presenting it to you, they will not tell you what will follow.
  7. Help can come from above; help can come from below. The only help that will stand is the help that comes from above. Just like the Bible makes mention of wisdom from above and from beneath. It is the wisdom from above that will last. When somebody gets help from below, you are just writing a courier letter to sorrow and tragedy. That is what it will result in. It could take time, but that is where it is going to.
  8. Satan could give you shoes, but he will amputate your legs. Know that very well.
  9. Satan could give you a hat, but he will behead you. That is the danger of this.

My heart goes out to so many here this morning who have unconsciously, during their time of ignorance, gone to the enemy for help, and he is using that against them to hold them down now.

● I am praying for such people here that: Any power that is holding you down will be buried alive here today, in the name of Jesus.

Let me pick one or two Bible examples before we now move on very quickly. All of a sudden, Joseph found himself in Egypt, and he was faced with the dream that Pharaoh had. In Genesis 41, we read about the very classic dream of Pharaoh. It was very strange indeed.

Genesis 41:1-4 (KJV) “And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river. And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow. And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river. And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.”

Seven cows came out from the River Nile. These seven cows were very fat-fleshed and good-looking. All of a sudden, seven other cows came out of the River Nile. Lean, skinny, ill-favoured, and they ate up the fat-fleshed cows. That was the first dream. This was the first half of the dream. The second half started.

Genesis 41:5-7 (KJV) says: “And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good. And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them. And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.”

In the second group, these seven plump heads of grain came out, fat and well-looking, from the river. Then, seven other heads came up again, tiny, and ate up the fat ones. All originating from the same river. Joseph then began to interpret the dream. The seven fat cows from the river represented seven years of harvest, and that would be followed by seven years of acute famine, represented by the lean cows that came out of the river. The second dream was just to reinforce the first dream. The mystery of the dream of Pharaoh is that the river from which the fat cows of abundance came was the same river from which seven cows of devastation came out, wiping out every former trace of prosperity as if there had been no fat cows at all.

The river, which was the source of Pharaoh’s prosperity for his kingdom and people, was also the source of ruin. It gave prosperity with one hand and withdrew it with the other hand. Readers of the Bible and spiritual warfare will know that the river is not merely a body of flowing water; it was a god that the Egyptians worshipped. And even if you read the book of Ezekiel, you will see what it says in 29:3 about the River Nile. I am laying this foundation so you know how to pray.

Ezekiel 29:3 (KJV) says: “Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself.”

So the River Nile was the source of Egypt’s occultic power. Pharaoh would consult that water every day to draw power. They could claim to be going there to have a bath, but it is not true. That is why sometimes Moses would confront him on his way to that River Nile. Remember that it was from the same river that Moses was rescued by Pharaoh’s daughter. So when the warfare of the Almighty started against Egypt, the first power God attacked was the River Nile. The Nile River sent Pharaoh seven fat cows. The same river sent seven thin cows to go and eat up the previously released fat cows. The Nile river prospered Egypt with seven good plants. The same river sent forth seven lean plants to destroy them. The Nile gave, and the Nile took.

The prosperity that does not originate from God will be lost and will never last. The prosperity whose origin is in the marine kingdom will be wasted by the same power that gave it. From where does your help come? What was the source of help you received many years ago? Whether you did it ignorantly or not does not concern the devil. In the spiritual warfare that we fight, ignorance is no excuse. Why is God the only true help? Look at it in John 3:31.

John 3:31 (KJV) says: “He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.”

God is the only true source of help because:

  1. God is greater than anything.
  2. God created all things. The created cannot overcome the creator, and there is nothing God created that He cannot panel beat into position.
  3. God will not sleep on the job. He says, “He that keepeth Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”
  4. God does not need rest.
  5. God works both night and day. This is why the only true help is the help from God. If you go and seek fetish power because you are running away from an enemy, the day the enemy finds a more powerful native doctor, you are in trouble. This is where the major danger now lies.

The major danger in seeking help outside God is this: anytime you go away from the camp of the Almighty to seek help from somewhere else, either consciously or unconsciously, knowingly or unknowingly, you dedicate yourself to where you get your help. And once you are dedicated to them, you become their property. Whether the dedicator is now dead or alive, the agreement is still binding. And in the spirit realm, you are spiritually married to any power to which you are dedicated.

This morning, we need to:

  • bring repentance to the Lord.
  • Identify any dedication speaking against our lives.
  • Retrieve anything we have lost to the camp of the enemy.

The book of Ruth makes for very interesting reading. So much for Pharaoh. In conclusion, the book of Ruth makes for very serious confirmation.

Ruth 1:1-6 (KJV) says: “Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Beth-lehem-judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons. And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Beth-lehem-judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there. And Elimelech Naomi’s husband died; and she was left, and her two sons. And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years. And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband. Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.”

Here was Elimelech, who left the land of Israel for the land of Moab to look for food. He went with his wife and two children. The food he went to Moab to seek ate him up and his two sons. Only the wife came back. Whatever they ate in Moab, they ate it and lost more than what they had gained. Now, Naomi had to go back to Israel, where the people who never left were still alive. Moab gave, Moab took. Moab now overtook more than it had given. “I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord who made heaven and earth.”

PRAYER POINTS.

[After Message]
(Ask the Lord to forgive you for situations where you did not completely trust Him and you went to Moab for help. Or for situations where you went to Nile for help, and Nile that gave is now taking back from you. Now you are seeking deliverance so that those things will not be taken. Maybe you did those things in ignorance, but ignorance is no excuse. Ask the Lord to forgive you so that you can recover what you have lost.)

  1. Vultures of darkness, assigned against my destiny, die, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Dedications of darkness, speaking against my head, die in the name of Jesus.
  3. Evil spiritual parents, I bury you today, in the name of Jesus.

One response to “THE SOURCE OF YOUR HELP”

  1. This teaching/preaching is so powerful, understandable and inspiring that you begin to wonder about the blessings, favour and the goodness of God hence the Bible says, those he called he glorifies, and those he glorifies he justifies.

Of a truth, the confirmation of God’s true calling, you get from the quality of their teachings and messages.

Truly God hand picked and called some people, whilst some people wouldn’t wait to be called and forcefully called themselves, which’s the error, incompetence and greed there’s in Christianity today, more confusing even the original elect.

May God continue to help us
