Minister: Dr. Daniel Olukoya (GO MFM Worldwide)
I told you categorically that the price that the Son of God paid for our salvation was the shedding of His precious blood. That blood, as we have been discussing, is currency in the spiritual realm.
And we looked at the Bible that day to confirm that there was sevenfold shedding:
- at the Garden of Gethsemane,
- when the high priest struck Him across the face,
- when His beards were pulled out,
- when they beat Him with the Roman whips,
- when they put a crown of thorns on His head,
- when they nailed Him to the cross,
- after his death, when a soldier thrust a spear into His side, and blood and water gushed out.
Then, we began to study how to apply the blood of Jesus to our situation, and that took us to the book of Exodus, which we used as an example.
Exodus 12:21-23 (KJV) says: “Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.”
They were to carry out this operation and do it accordingly: apply the blood on the doorpost and on the lintel, representing the cross, telling us about the Lamb of God that was to be slain for our sin.
And this is where we got that wonderful song from, which says:
Christ our Redeemer died on the cross,
Died for the sinner, paid all his due;
Sprinkle your soul with the blood of the Lamb,
And I will pass, will pass over you.
CHORUS
When I see the blood,
When I see the blood,
When I see the blood,
I will pass, I will pass over you.
There was suffering for the children of Israel in Egypt. God sent Moses and said, “Let my people go.” Pharaoh said, “No, I will not let them go. Let them stay here and suffer.” Here, you begin to see again the solution to the forces of Pharaoh.
● I am praying for somebody here who can say a loud amen: all the forces of Pharaoh that are saying they will not let you go, that are saying “stay here and suffer”, with a sevenfold amen, bury them tonight, in the name of Jesus.
The battle that Moses was fighting in Egypt was more than the physical battle. It was a spiritual battle. It was a battle against the many gods of Egypt, but one by one, he was rendering those gods powerless. He dealt with the Nile.
Nile is a god that they worship, but he turned the Nile to blood. But Pharaoh said, “You are not going.”
Then Moses dealt with the frog god, the goddess of fertility. They died and rotted in Egypt. The whole place was smelling, yet he did not let them go.
Then he dealt with the earth god. He struck it with the rod, and lice came out. Yet Pharaoh said, “You are not going.”
Next, Moses dealt with the god of the atmosphere. He struck it abundant flies, yet Pharaoh said, “You cannot go.”
He dealt next with the cattle god of Egypt, which they call ‘Apis’, but it could not save the cows.
They were all struck with diseases. They were no match for the God of Israel. Yet Pharaoh said, “You cannot go.”
Next, he dealt with Egypt’s god called Typhon, who could not prevent the people from having boils, probably leprosy and running sores. Yet Pharaoh said, “You are not going.”
Then Moses dealt with Egypt’s gods and goddesses of rain and lightning, yet Pharaoh said, “You cannot go.”
Then he dealt with the Egyptian locust god, and that idol could not save the crops, yet Pharaoh refused to let them go.
Moses dealt with Egypt’s sun god since they worshipped the sun too. That sun was turned to darkness, yet he did not let them go.
Finally, he dealt with Egypt’s firstborn sons, who were considered gods. So God gave ten good reasons Pharaoh should let them go.
● I am praying for somebody here today: Any Pharaoh of your father’s house, any Pharaoh of your mother’s house, any Pharaoh of your place of business, any Pharaoh of your place of work that is saying ‘this is how far you can go; you cannot go further’, with a sevenfold amen, bury them tonight, in the name of Jesus.
Pharaoh did not let them go until that blood was applied. “…..They overcame him by the blood of the lamb….” Apply that blood on your doorposts. Doors are very significant; doors are very important. Without doors, you cannot get into or out of a place. Doors represent the way in and out of a place. When you understand that everything that goes in and out must pass through the door, then you begin to understand the significance of that blood on the doorpost.
The symbol of that blood is very important because it covers the family from danger. It sanctifies what goes in and out. It is amazing that the only protection that day for both Jews and Egyptians would be the blood of the Lamb.
If you did not stay there, and you decided to be disobedient, maybe like you decided to go to a party when the angel was passing, or you went to greet your friend in Egypt where there was no blood, it would be a tragedy.
This is a very serious matter. The entire nation needed to apply that blood.
That place of scripture in Exodus is telling us something very interesting: that even in our lives now, we must apply the blood of Jesus, not only to our physical doorposts but also at the entrance of our hearts. If we do not do it, the devourer will come in. This is the lesson we are picking from Exodus 12. “….They overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the Word of their testimony….”
If you refuse to apply the blood, or you do not agree, or you say it is fake, your ignorance is not an excuse. The person will still get into trouble.
The blood of Jesus has a lot of mysteries attached to it. And like I have been telling you since we started these studies, we must go back to the traditional blood of Jesus prayers.
Raise up your two hands to the Lord where you are. Then, the way you like your destiny is the way you should pray this prayer. You will shout “The blood of Jesus” seven hot times, and then after shouting, you will say:
● Arise, let my heavens open, in the name of Jesus.
● Arise, let my embargo die, in the name of Jesus.
Before you can correctly be applying the blood of Jesus, you must know what the Bible teaches about it. In the Bible, there are sevenfold applications of the blood of Jesus in our lives.
THE BLOOD OF JESUS IS FOR OUR:
- Redemption: Ephesians 1:7 (KJV) says, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”
1 Peter 1:18-19 (KJV) says: “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:”
Redemption means to buy back. Many have sold themselves into sin. The enemy has bought over so many people. That blood buys you back. You are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.
Psalms 107:2 (KJV) says, “Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.”
Let them say with their mouths, “I am redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.” Through the blood of the Lamb, you and I have been bought back from our sins.
In our early days as Christians, there was a chorus we used to sing:
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
I am redeemed, I am redeemed, praise the Lord.
We used to sing this joyfully.
- Cleansing: The hymn writers understood these things deeply; that is why that song says, “Are you washed by the blood of the Lamb?” It has a cleansing power.
1 John 1:7 (KJV) says, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
A continued Provision. We must keep, however, in the light of the fellowship of God. When you walk in the light, the blood of Jesus cleanses you now and from all sins. It has a cleansing power.
● I am praying for someone here today: anyone that has been polluted from all kinds of forces and idols, that the cleansing blood of Jesus will work for you tonight, in the name of Jesus.
- Justification: If you say you want to apply the blood of Jesus, you must know the scriptures.
Romans 5:9 (KJV) says, “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
Justification means to be acquitted. You have been rendered not guilty. You have been made righteous because our own personal righteousness will not get us to heaven. So, it is that blood that purchases justification for you. It is that blood that ensures that when the devil comes, he has nothing to say against you because you have left that old life. So through the blood, you are justified.
- Sanctification: Hebrews 13:7, 12 (KJV) says, “Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.”
“Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.”
To sanctify, means to make holy or set apart from sin. Through the blood of Jesus, a man or woman is sanctified, set apart to God.
- Life: As written in Leviticus 17:11 we have been reading,
Leviticus 17:11 (KJV) says, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”
God’s own life is in the blood of Jesus. There is more power in just one drop of the blood of Jesus than all the kingdom of Satan put together. So there is nothing wrong if you say, ‘I drink the blood of Jesus.’ When you say ‘I drink the blood of Jesus’, it enters into your system and into your inner life.
- Intercession: The blood of Jesus secures intercession, standing in the gap and praying for you.
Hebrews 12:22-24 (KJV) says, “But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.”
(These are the Old Testament saints.)
“And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.”
Abel’s blood was shed against his will; Jesus willingly shed His blood. Abel’s blood was shed on earth; Jesus’ blood was shed in the holies. Abel’s blood cried for vengeance; the blood of Jesus cries for mercy.
- Access: The blood of Jesus gives us access. In Hebrews 10:19, we see this:
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
That blood ushers you into the holiest.
Hebrews 10:20-23 (KJV) says: “By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)”
“They overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the Word of their testimony.” It is this blood that gives access to the throne of God, and so everyone must prepare themselves. Live a holy life. Obey God 100% so that the blood of Jesus can be availing for you.
PRAYER POINTS.
- (Shout the blood of Jesus seven times) Blood of Jesus, arise: fight for me now, in the name of Jesus.
- (Shout the blood of Jesus seven times) Blood of Jesus, arise: kill my problems, in the name of Jesus.
- (Shout the blood of Jesus seven times) Arise: recover my virtues, in the name of Jesus.
