Topic: DEALING WITH THE SPIRITS OF BETHSAIDA
Text: Mark 8:22-26, Matthew 11:20-21
Minister: Dr. Daniel Olukoya (G.O. MFM Worldwide)
This topic may sound strange to you, but listen to me very carefully.
Mark 8:22-26 (KJV) says, “And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him. And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town, and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.”
There is a touch:
- that brings wholeness to the life of a man.
- That will make your destiny clear in your eyes.
- That once you get that touch, your enemies may make noise and jump all around, but they cannot touch you.
- Whereby those who do not know you will fight your cause.
- That brings breakthroughs.
- That brings uncommon breakthroughs.
- That makes a man have total clearness.
- That elevates a man.
- That makes you see clearly where your destiny should be.
- That can turn your life around completely.
- That can give you a miracle that others will open their mouths in wonder and not be able to close it.
- That brings clarity to those confusing dreams you have been having.
- That can expose to you clearly what your way should be like.
● I know there is someone today that will receive that touch tonight, in the name of Jesus.
Bethsaida means “house of fish” or “place of fish”. The name Bethsaida has a marine name. It is a city that the Lord Jesus lamented seriously about in Matthew 11:20.
Matthew 11:20-21 (KJV) says, “Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.”
Bethsaida is a city where people do not repent. That was the city where this blind man was located. A wrong location can affect your life permanently. Whether you like it or not, as you are listening to me right now, you are in a location.
Your location determines your position. It is said that 99% of success is correct positioning. The problem of Adam in the garden when God asked, “Adam, where are you?” was the wrong location. You can be in a wasting location.
Location has a high significance both for God and demons. There are some messages God will not pass to the same person until they change locations. God told Elijah, “Go to the brook of Cherith; I will feed you.” Location.
The man could have argued. “Brook of Cherith? Ravens?” But he went, and God met him there. If he went elsewhere, the subsequent miracles he experienced would have been cancelled because he refused to move. Promises, messages, spiritual experiences, and blessings: you have to be in specific locations and times to receive them.
A man will not enter into his possession if he is yet to obey the instruction to leave his father’s house and go into another location God is sending him to. God addresses locations specifically. A man can never do the right thing in the wrong place. A man can never perform his duty in a place other than his duty post. It was out of Bethsaida Jesus took that blind man out.
Could Jesus not have healed the man there? Could He not just have said, “Receive your healing,” right in that place? In fact, the final instruction Jesus gave him was, “Go to your house, do not enter into the city, and do not tell anyone about your miracle.”
There is a touch that can change your life. There is a town that can limit a man. There is a town that can bury a man alive. What is that town that can limit a man? What is that situation? That relationship? That connection? That community, that friendship, that covenant that will not let you see your way clearly? Whatever it is, that is your personal Bethsaida. The spirit of Bethsaida is that spirit that whenever God is doing something and it is time for you to reap it, all of a sudden, something quenches it.
If God wants to bless you in that situation, it is like pouring water in a basket. It does not last. Your personal Bethsaida may not be a physical geographical location; it may be a situation, relationship, connection, community, friendship, covenant, or where you live. You get on fire for God, but immediately you return, and the fire quenches. You are praying, you are reading your Bible, you are taking your spiritual life seriously, but immediately you enter, everything quenches. That Bethsaida may be a boyfriend, a sugar daddy, an old friend, or maybe a terrible habit. You look and decide that you want to serve God, and you go into serving God. You became serious. All of a sudden, you enter Bethsaida, and everything quenches. Close your eyes where you are and pray this loud and clear:
● O God, arise, take me out of my Bethsaida, in the name of Jesus.
Bethsaida is that spirit that blows out what God has done for you. Some have been crying to God, “Why am I always beginning afresh? Why am I always starting again?” It is the spirit of Bethsaida. It will put fire on habits and cage you.
Jesus said in Matthew 11:21 (KJV): “Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.”
Bethsaida is a place that swallows miracles. God has given you grace, but what did you use to pay back? Rebellion. God has delivered you, but you are paying back with rebellion. That is the spirit of Bethsaida. The goodness of God did not lead you to repentance. Jesus took the man by the hand and led him out of the city.
● I decree that God will lead you to your place of deliverance, God will lead you to your place of rest, and God will hold you and take you to your land of complete deliverance, in the name of Jesus.
This man’s vision had been so destroyed that a first touch was not enough; Jesus had to touch him again. Maybe you are here tonight; you have been touched in past meetings, but it did not resolve anything. Make up your mind tonight that “I must receive the second touch of His power”. Now, what are the spirits of Bethsaida? This is where you need to listen carefully. The spirits of Bethsaida are the:
- Emptier houses: Any house built in this country from the early 50s backwards, there is a 99% chance that there is something buried under it. Our forefathers did not build houses without burying dead things, sometimes even dead human beings. That house from where you were born and grew up could be the Bethsaida troubling you and swallowing your miracles. Anytime you sleep, you dream of going back to that house. Anytime you want to do something good, something takes you back there. There is a Bethsaida cage holding you there. Can you raise up your right hand and pray this prayer:
● Cages in my habitation, roast, in the name of Jesus.
What are the Bethsaida spirits? They are the:
- Cursed environments.
- Binding curses.
- Miracle aborters.
- Stubborn breakthrough swallowers.
- Anti-breakthrough yokes.
- Besetting sins.
- Evil cloud: an aura of bad luck surrounding the person. Bad company and bad relationships can be your Bethsaida. That man you call your boyfriend is your Bethsaida; that man giving you money can be your Bethsaida. That relationship that the Holy Spirit is asking you to leave is your Bethsaida. When somebody has become a landowner in Bethsaida, then testimonies will be far from such a person.
- Demoting and limiting foundation.
- Environmental witchcraft.
- Miracle resistance.
- Backward invitations.
- Barriers.
- Hardening of bondage: For the King of kings to touch somebody and he could not see clearly, it must have been a hard bondage.
- Continuous success of satanic attacks.
- Consistent bad luck.
- The tortoise and snail speed.
- Unexplainable loss of property.
- Satanic relocation: The enemy relocates a person to where he gets stuck.
- Diversion by friends.
- Having dreams that look positive but are negative.
- The angels of darkness appearing to children of God as agents of light, whereas they are not, and the children of God are taking their messages seriously.
● I pray that anyone whose legs are stuck, the Lord will take them out, in the name of Jesus.
What are the keys to deal with the spirits of Bethsaida? They are five.
THE FIVE KEYS TO DEAL WITH THE BETHSAIDA SPIRITS ARE THESE:
- You must come to Jesus. This is non-negotiable. Make him your friend.
- Give Him your hand. Stop resisting the Almighty’s hand over your life. When you hand over, he will take your battles over.
- Follow Him like that man followed Jesus. Even if it is not convenient, even if people are laughing at you, mocking you and saying you look frustrated for following Jesus, still follow Him.
- Receive the touch of His power. That songwriter says, “All I need is the touch from Jesus.” If the touch comes upon you tonight, no one needs to tell you; you will know by yourself. Men and women who saw you will know something is now different about you.
- Do not go back to your Bethsaida. Do not go back to your vomit. This is why we are here tonight. A lot are failing at what they know how to do best. When you tarry long in Bethsaida,
- Limelight becomes obscurity.
- Strength will soon become weakness.
- Faith will become fear.
- Significance will become insignificance.
- From being the pursuer, you become the pursued.
- Kingship will soon become servanthood.
This is why we are here tonight, for God’s people to pull themselves out of the cage of Bethsaida. We want to have adequate time to pray tonight.
