Topic: THE BATTLES OF LIFE
Text: Job 14:1, Psalms 23:4, 3:1-3, 27:2-3, Jeremiah 1:19, Psalms 118:13, 46:1-3, John 16:33.

We are starting a series. There is nowhere in the scriptures where we are told that life will be easy. There is nowhere in the scriptures that gives anybody any assurance that you will never fight any battle, which tells people that if you do not trouble people, they do not trouble you.

What scripture tells us is this: whether you believe it or not, whether you like it or not, whether your preacher or even your parents believe it or not, the Bible says, “They shall fight against you, but they shall not prevail.”

I have watched a boxing match before, when I was very young. It was a black man and a white man fighting in the ring. It was a hard fight. When they were declaring the winner, the winner’s eyes were swollen. He could hardly see. But he won. But the facts were that there was a battle, and one of two blows had landed on his face.

Hence, the Bible makes it very clear that this world is a battleground. Let us look at scriptures to understand the stand of scriptures in the battles of life.

Job 14:1 (KJV) says: “Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.”

Psalms 23:4 (KJV) says: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

Walking through the valley of the shadow of death is an implication of somebody walking through danger. That valley of the shadow of death is the battle.

Psalms 3:1-3 (KJV) says: “LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”

I decree upon somebody here who can shout 10 volcanic amen, that the lifter of heads, Jesus Christ, shall lift up your head! In the name of Jesus.

And all the enemies that are increasing against you, that are rising up against you, that are saying that your God cannot help you, must be disgraced! In the name of Jesus. (A 10-fold amen.)

We are looking at the Bible’s stand on the battles of life.

Psalms 27:2–3 (KJV): “When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.”

The Bible did not say “if the wicked,” it said “when the wicked.” All this ‘wicked’, ‘host’, ‘eaters of flesh’, ‘evil surrounder’, ‘war arising against a person’ are all the battles of life we are talking about.

Jeremiah 1:19 (KJV): “And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.”

All those fighting against you are part of the battles of life.

Psalms 118:13 (KJV): “Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me.”

That is, they are pushing the person so that he can fall, but he refused to fall, for the Lord helped him.

Every power violently, wickedly pushing you that you may fall, with a sevenfold amen, they must fall! In the name of Jesus.

Psalms 46:1-3 (KJV) says: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.”

That is, no matter how terrible the battle, there is still a battle. That is what the psalmist is describing here.

John 16:33 (KJV): “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

He did not say “you may have” or “it may happen.” It says, “You shall have tribulation.” If you see anybody who says, “I do not have any enemies,” he is an idiot. It means the world has given you a red card to depart from the field of play. God himself has enemies. The Bible says, “Let God arise; let his enemies be scattered; let them also that hate him flee before him.” The Bible also says, “You shall have tribulation.”

1 Timothy 6:12 (KJV): “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

You must fight. Now, let me tell you 30 facts about the battles of life before we start praying now:

1. The battle of life is a universal problem. There is nobody free from it. You have a battle to fight. The family has a battle to fight. Your friends have a battle to fight. Children have a battle to fight. It is a universal problem.

Are you here and:

• you have violent spiritual attacks you do not understand? You are inside your battle.
• you have a mysterious affliction? Doctors cannot explain? You are inside your battle.
• are suffering from strange oppression? You are inside your battle.
  -there is a constant chain of destructible dreams you are having? You are inside your battle.
• there is always defeat at the edge of success, sometimes after a dream? You are inside your battle.
• all the promises made to you always fail? You are inside your battle.
• you are having failure where others are having success? You are inside your battle.
• you have constant night oppression, sometimes you are even afraid to sleep? You are inside your battle.
• you have what is called an “evil magnet”? You are a young lady, a virgin, and unmarried, and the only people approaching you are married men or not children of God? There is an evil magnet in your life, always magnetising evil people into your life.
• the doctors have said, “This disease is incurable; just continue with it.” You are inside your battle.
• you have this circular problem that, as one is going, another is coming? You are inside your battle.
• people just hate you for no reason? You are inside your battle.
• you see cobwebs that just cover your face and nobody else sees them? You are inside your battle.
• when people ask for your age, they always assume that you are 20 years older than your actual age? There is a battle to fight.
• when there is a problem and they want to punish people, are you always one of those punished? You are inside your battle.
  So battle is a universal problem.

I have travelled all over the world. One thing is common with the whole world: everyone has a battle to fight, no matter your colour. Some people are even their own problems. Problems and battles are universal.

2. Battles arise because there is something the enemy wishes to take away from you. So if you have no treasure—nothing for the enemy to steal—they leave you alone because you are already useless. But once there is something in you they want, they will give you a hard fight.

I am praying for somebody here today that: Those who are fighting you because of the good thing you carry, with a tenfold amen, They must die! in the name of Jesus.

The battle against what people carry can start from the womb, because evil powers have the capacity to know the potential of even children in the womb.

Remember the story of Irawo that I do to tell you? Before he was born, they told the parents that both white men and women would bow down to the child. Unfortunately, those parents were not Christians. The day Irawo was born, the native doctors in that axis gathered at the place to come and congratulate the parents.

If those wise men could see the star of Jesus in the sky, that shows that they had the power to see the star of the Saviour. If men have that kind of capacity, what makes you think that they will not know what you carry? They saw what Jesus carried and said, “Let us go and worship.”

I am praying for somebody here today: The enemy that hates you and is fighting you because of what you carry must be buried alive! In the name of Jesus (a 7-fold amen).

3. The world is not a playground. It is a hot battle field. And it is a tragedy when you are on a battle field and you do not even realise it. The psalmist says, “He delivered me from my strong enemies and from them that hated me, for they were too strong for me.”
4. In the battle of life, you cannot be neutral. It is life or death. It is heaven or hell. It is light or darkness. There is no neutrality. Jesus even said, “Those that are not with us are against us.” That is, whether they are saying it or not, whether they know it or not, as long as they are not with us, they are against us. So in the battle of life, you cannot be neutral. That is why it is dangerous to put your foot in two places: one in the dark and one in the light. What is going to happen is this: the devil will shoot you on one side, and angels will shoot you on the other side because you do not belong here or there.
5. You either fight or perish. So any church that does not teach you how to fight the spiritual war; you are just wasting your life and time. If all they are teaching is how to make money or move forward, and nobody teaches you warfare, there is trouble.

Here you are, and you want to make the money and move forward, and all of a sudden the enemy comes to attack what you carry, and you do not know how to fight back. All you have now gathered is a waste of time. This is a very serious prayer.

I am praying for somebody here today: any battle assigned to embarrass your destiny, I command the battle to expire! In the name of Jesus.

It is because men know that there is battle and they know they have to fight, and in a bid to fight, that takes people to wrong places like the sea, bar beach, and one prophet somewhere, where they now do more damage to the person’s destiny, where an able-bodied man is now allowing a woman who calls herself a prophetess to bathe him with soap and sponge by the sea. He is in a battle, but he does not know how to fight.

Unfortunately, there are unscrupulous and wicked human beings who are using people’s problems to prosper. And it is a serious matter indeed. The reason the native doctors are having customers is because of the battle of life. The reason the fake prophets are having customers is because of the battle of life. The reason the local healing places are having customers is because of the battle of life.

I am praying for you that any battle assigned to mock your prayers shall die instantly! In the name of Jesus. (a 7-fold amen).

The two most effective weapons of the enemy are ignorance and discouragement. Ignorance is a disaster. Physical ignorance is bad, and spiritual ignorance is worse. Physical ignorance can even destroy a person or make him lose money, and spiritual ignorance is worse. And this is a situation where the person is not even aware of the warfare or strategies to fight back. Discouragement, too, is a terrible disaster, and the enemy uses it a lot. This is a very serious matter.

7. The enemy is an obstinate fighter and will only yield what he must yield. He is a stubborn fighter. If you do not get it from the enemy, he keeps it. This is a very very serious matter. After defeat, he still tries to come back to start fighting again. That is the battle of life.

Every battle the enemy is waging against you shall be terminated! In the name of Jesus.

This is why our most effective weapon is the weapon of prayer, because everything we do in the house of God, the devil can do better. But prayer is a very serious problem for him. Very soon, we shall start the kind of prayers that attack the root of problems.

PRAYER POINTS.
(Talk to the Lord: any sin in my life that will allow my battles to be stubborn, Father, forgive me now.)

1. O God arise, bury my dream attackers! in the name of Jesus!
2. Battles assigned to rubbish my destiny, die! In the name of Jesus.
3. Battles assigned to make me beg for bread; you are liars; die! In the name of Jesus.
4. Battles assigned to make me serve my enemies, die! In the name of Jesus.
5. Strange hand, attacking my star, dry up! In the name of Jesus.
6. Powers that are saying, “You can get it, but you will not use it,” die! In the name of Jesus.
7. My glory, tied down at the border of my place of birth, come out! In the name of Jesus.
8. Powers that punished my parents and are now after me, you are liars; die! In the name of Jesus.
9. Powers that do not want me to have peace, you are liars; die! in the name of Jesus.
