Topic: DESTROYING THE COVENANT OF AFFLICTION
Text: Nahum 1:9; Isaiah 53:4-5; Job 30:27; 36:8, Psalms 107:10, 107:17, 129:1, Isaiah 53:4-5
Minister: Dr. Daniel Olukoya (G.O. MFM Worldwide)
Listen very carefully. It is good to understand how this institution that God instituted is being used by the devil to steal, harass, and destroy people.
Whenever God wants to commit himself to certain things, He does that by forming a covenant. He made a covenant with Abraham, and that is what the Israelis are enjoying today. So a covenant is a divine institution. Covenants are agreements between parties to create a legally binding agreement.
A covenant can either promote an activity to occur, which is positive, or disallow an event or condition from happening, which is negative. There are debt covenants, like financial covenants on people: borrower and lender. So when it is broken, it will trigger compensation or other consequences. Just as it is in the physical, it is so in the spiritual.
Many are under the covenant of affliction. Affliction:
- is when all you have is lost, just like it happened to Job.
- is what makes a very wise man behave like a mad man.
- is when others are eating up what you have laboured; like the children of Israel were in affliction and labour in Egypt.
- is when your benefits, riches, and opportunities are being swallowed up.
- is to experience the rage of infirmity, just like that woman in Luke 13 who was bent double.
- is for somebody to experience closed heavens.
- is to have no helper.
- is to suffer unrest in the body.
- is going into captivity.
- is to invite the rod of God’s anger.
- is to suffer from oppression.
It is so terrible that God says something in Nahum 1:9.
Nahum 1:9 (KJV) says: “What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.”
I am praying for anyone here and listening to me: Any power programmed to make affliction rise in your life a second time shall die violently, in the name of Jesus. (a sevenfold amen).
The Bible talks about affliction in various languages. When we say affliction, we are talking about almost 12 characteristics:
- To cause pain.
- To cause suffering.
- To knock somebody about.
- To harass.
- To knock down.
- To weaken.
- To trouble.
- To burden.
- To stress.
- To oppress.
- To torment.
- To smite. This is a serious matter.
Therefore, the Bible talks about the land of affliction. There is something known as the land of affliction. That is, you could travel from the land of happiness to the land of affliction. A lot of people go to the land of affliction thinking it is a land of enjoyment. Some people have lands that the enemy wants to convert into a land of affliction.
I decree once again, and I curse in the name of the Lord, any power that wants to convert your land of joy to affliction: May they be destroyed, in the name of Jesus.
There is something also known as the bread of affliction. You are just being fed with anything.
Any power that wants to feed anyone here with bread of affliction, let them eat their own bread, in the name of Jesus.
There is something also known as the water of affliction. There is something also known as the root of affliction.
Job 5:6 (KJV) says: “Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;”
So affliction has a root. It does not just happen. There are what the Bible calls ‘the days of affliction.’
Job 30:27 (KJV) says: “My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me.”
There is something also known as the cords of affliction.
Job 36:8 (KJV) says “And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;”
There is also something known as an iron-like affliction. I am explaining this to you very well so you can understand the anger and violence with which you must use to pray tonight.
Psalms 107:10 (KJV) says: “Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;”
There is what is known as the furnace of affliction. There is what is known as the time of affliction.
Therefore, beloveth, affliction has a time of conception, as if a woman is having a child, then the time of pregnancy, then the time of incubation, the time of delivery, the tenor or duration of the affliction, and then the death of the affliction.
There could also be a resurrection of that affliction. So the best way to prevent the affliction is to abort it. There is what is known as the cry of affliction. The Bible makes us understand that transgressions and iniquities can bring affliction.
Psalms 107:17 (KJV) says: “Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.”
Unfortunately, many don’t become wise until after affliction. Unfortunately, the Bible says in Psalms 129:1 that affliction may come from someone’s youth.
Psalms 129:1 (KJV): “Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say: “
Affliction is so serious that the book of Isaiah 53:4-5 says:
“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
Jesus came to bear affliction for us.
I am praying for anyone here under the bondage, the curse, the mistake, and the attack of affliction; with a sevenfold amen, any affliction assigned to torment your life is buried tonight, in the name of Jesus.
There is something also known as dreams of affliction. Dreams that indicate affliction:
- Slavery in the dream.
- Wearing rags in the dreams.
- Roaming about like a vagabond in the dream.
- Being bitten by animals in the dream.
- Seeing coffins in the dream.
- Being punished in the dream.
- Being caged in the dream.
- Being beaten in the dream until you wake up and feel the pains.
- Being force-fed in the dream with what you would not normally eat is all affliction.
You see, covenant-making forms an integral part of human life. Happy is the man who has made a covenant with the Lord. Woe betide any man who has made a covenant with the devil.
The covenant can be a promise, an oath, a vow, a bargain agreement, or you can make a covenant with elements like the earth, sea, forest, and skies. People can form such covenants. There is a book in the spirit realm where all covenants are kept. You may forget, but they will not forget.
There was a lady who was failing her final exams every year. Her failure was strange in that everything was always F9 parallel. People she taught in class would score A’s and get grade 1, but she would get F9. So she went to the mother to ask questions. Her mother said, “Yes, when you were little, you were sick, so I took you to the river and made a covenant with it to be giving sacrifices to that river, and so if that river was not given any sacrifice, you will fail anything you do.”
So the enemy waited for her to pass forms 1 to 4, and then form 5 when she would need the certificate, they started. She asked, “Mummy, what are you going to do now?” The mother said, “We have to go to the river.” ‘What are you going to give the river?’, she asked her mother. They needed a white lamb and a big bowl of pounded yam and okro soup. After throwing the lamb into the water, the woman would then feed the water with the pounded yam and okro soup, morsel by morsel.
If I had not seen it before myself, I would not believe. But I had seen it before when we had a research meeting in Enugu State and we passed through the city of Benin. There is a river there called the Ikpoba River. At that river, I saw a lady sitting down and feeding the river morsel by morsel with pounded yam and okro.
We had a little traffic delay, so I was able to see what she was doing. I told my driver to park, came down, and went closer to the woman.
Then I asked, “Excuse me, why are you not eating your food? Why are you throwing it into the water?” She just looked at me with very angry eyes and said, “Mind your business!” I replied, “But Jesus can deliver you from this.” She retorted, “I said, mind your business!” So when that lady was telling me the story, I understood because I had seen it before.
The next year, she passed. After passing that exam, she sort of forgot how she passed and went to the university.
In her final year, the battle of failure started again. The covenant of failure had been activated. Unfortunately, the native doctor who used to help them prepare the incantation and charms on the food had died, and nobody could help them prepare it again. So, her results kept disappearing. Lecturers would just not find her papers. That was what pushed her to MFM. It was here that she prayed off that covenant of affliction.
I am praying for somebody here today: whether consciously or unconsciously or not, whether ignorantly or not, whether your parents knew what they were doing or not, one way or the other they involved you in a covenant that is troubling your life now, receive your deliverance now, in the name of Jesus.
There was another case we dealt with here. This lady spent three years praying before she could receive deliverance. She had a boyfriend on campus. We do not know what came over that boy or which native doctor he consulted. One day he called the lady and said, “Promise me you will not leave me forever.” She said, “Nothing will separate us.” And he promised her too. Then he took a knife, cut himself, and poured the blood into a cup. He cut the lady, poured the blood into that same cup, then took some alcohol and mixed it with the blood, and then shared the drink, saying that they would never marry anyone else.
Unfortunately, during their final year at the university, this boy had an accident and died. From that time on, nobody was willing to say, “Hello, I love you,” to this lady. Nobody was interested in her at all. In fact, as beautiful as she was at that time, it was as though she was not visible to the men because the covenant she formed had held her in bondage. She had to pray and pray and pray. When you have formed a covenant with a dead person and the person is not alive to break it, it is a very serious problem.
One of the strongest covenants that can ever be made is a blood covenant. They are difficult to break. This is why some men and women are confused, because that man who disvirgined you had soaked his manhood in your blood. So it is a blood covenant you formed with him, and now you cannot even find him; he is not the one you are married to. And you, as a man, when you form the blood covenant with virgin A, virgin B, or C, now you are wondering what is happening in your life. There are covenants you need to break.
This is why I am praying again: if you have formed an evil blood covenant, consciously or unconsciously, knowingly or unknowingly, ignorantly or with your knowledge, receive your deliverance in the name of Jesus.
So a person can enter into a covenant with sickness where the sickness will be periodic, like every 3 months. There are some people who say they only fall sick once a year, and that sickness is very serious.
A person can form a covenant with failure. Some families can form a covenant with the spirit of death. Some can form covenants with poverty, and many people prefer to manage poverty rather than prosperity. Some form covenants with family idols, with witchcraft powers. Some can form covenants with sorrow.
Some can form a covenant with marital failure. Some can form a covenant with hardship. Some can form a covenant with non-achievement. Some can form covenants with frustration. Some can form a covenant with joblessness. Some can form a covenant with overloading the wife. The man will not get a job. It is the woman who will do everything. He did that to the first wife; she died, and now he has married another woman and is doing the same thing.
Some can form a covenant with helplessness. Some can form covenant with hopelessness. Some can form covenants with religious spirits. Some can form covenants with drugs and medicine. If a person has made a covenant with affliction, then the person will be experiencing the following things:
- Unexplainable hardship, and because that covenant is not broken, it is there. I told you something that happened here in 1995. The deliverance ministers were praying with a lady, and while the deliverance was going on, she vomited a padlock. So they came to call me, and I went there. I found this padlock whose body looked hairy, and I asked, “What is this for?” She said that she used it to lock up her mother. “Your mother? Why should you lock up your mother?”
She said, “She misbehaved. I told her the type of meat I wanted, but she gave it to my younger brother.” I asked, “Is that why you locked her up? Okay, where is she now?” She said that she has been in the hospital for 14 months, but they do not know what is wrong with her. I said, “Okay, where is the key to this padlock?” She asked, “Sir, do you want the key?” I said ‘yes’. Then she vomited the key. I told her to open the padlock. She did. Then I asked, “Okay, is your mother free now?”
She said, “No, sir, because I wanted to punish her and I did not want anybody to just set her free like that, so I passed her through 14 padlocks. So we need to break the 13 others.” There was a woman in the hospital receiving drugs and everything, not knowing that what kept her there for 14 months was a covenant of affliction.
Any unexplainable hardship in anybody’s life, just because you were in a covenant you did not know about, whether you are here or watching us, receive your deliverance now, in the name of Jesus.
- Regular tormenting attacks.
- Nightmares. Immediately, they close their eyes, the nightmares start.
- Stubborn sicknesses.
- Poverty and loss.
- Death harassment.
- Resurrection of affliction. You go for deliverance; they seem to keep quiet, wait a bit, and then they are back again.
- Oppression galore.
- Problem expansion.
- Outer and inner slavery.
- Living an opposite life. A person is supposed to be rich, but he is poor. Or happy, but he is sad.
- Embargo on finances
- Rotating tribulations. As one problem is going, another is coming.
- Spiritual bites, where they feel like insects are biting them.
- Serpentine attacks.
- Elimination of breadwinners from the family. I know a family who came for prayers. There were 14 of them. 7 were medical doctors. By the time they came for prayers, unfortunately, the seven medical doctors were dead. Out of the seven that remained, two were native doctors, and the others were just practising religion. Only the native doctors were having some money because they too had formed a covenant with darkness. So it was the others who came for prayers.
- Fragmented lives.
- Regular disruption of peace
- Troubled families
These are signs that there is a covenant of affliction in place. This is where we are stopping tonight. We will continue these deep deliverance studies next time.
PRAYER POINTS.
- Binding covenants that came upon me while I was a child, break, in the name of Jesus.
- (Put your hand on your head) Covenant of affliction affecting my health, break, in the name of Jesus.
- Covenant of affliction affecting my finances, break, in the name of Jesus.
