Topic: RISING ABOVE YOUR ROOTS TO THE TOP
Text: Isaiah 2:2, Matthew 5:14–16, 2 Chronicles 33:1–7, 9; 34:1-2

Isaiah 2:2 (KJV) says: “And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.”

Matthew 5:14–16 (KJV) says, “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”……..

The major fact in these two scriptures we just read is that God wants you at the top. The top place for the child of God is not just a possibility to desire but a responsibility to accept and pursue it. The Bible says, “Ye shall be the head and not the tail. You shall be above only and not beneath.” Those places are available. There are some who like the bottom region. There are some who like the middle position, a very dangerous position called “mediocre.” There is the top.

You can be a top businessman or a bottom businessman; a top academician or a bottom academician, or a mediocre; you are not at the top, you are not at the bottom; you are just playing somewhere at the middle.

The top place is God’s desire for us to accept and pursue it. But there is a problem: the roots. That is why this programme is called Deep Deliverance. It is the battle against root battles. Anytime you, as a believer, see a problem, the first thing your mind should run to very quickly is a tree. A tree has roots, stems, branches, leaves, and flowers.

The problem with our problems is that the roots are either unknown or unaddressed. A lady was talking to me last week. At the age of 37, she was just discovering that her father was not her father. The person she thought was her father was not her father. Her mother went to commit adultery, got pregnant, and tried to terminate the pregnancy, but she could not. On the day of delivery, she almost died. That was how she confessed to her husband, and that was how this lady was born: raised under a father she thought was her father, but not his father.

How did this happen? When she began to pray to know the root of her problem, she began to ask the question “why.” It was when she was praying at Prayer City that her phone rang. It was her mother on the phone. She said, “I have offended you. I have something to confess to you. This was how you were born. So, continue your prayers. The Lord will deliver you.”

She did not know that that was the root of what she was battling. So the problem with our problems is that sometimes we do not want to address the root, or we fail to address the root.

The problem with deliverance is that spirits that are not deeply rooted will leave easily. The deliverance minister will say, “Get out, in the name of Jesus,” and they will get out. But those that are deeply rooted will hear the command “Get out, in the name of Jesus” and will query the man and say, “Why? Were you there when they handed her over? I am not going.” So the battle starts between the deliverance minister and this spirit because it is deeply rooted. When prayers get to a certain level, what is hiding inside people’s lives comes out. Then you will know that human beings really are just boasting. It is all vanity upon vanity. All is vanity.

This is a very serious problem. I have seen very sophisticated ladies. One like that came all the way from the United Kingdom. She could not find a husband; work was not going well. She was speaking very sparkling British English, very sophisticated looking, but by the time prayer got to a level, she began to move about on her head, and we were trying to save her from using her head to hang things, only for her mouth to open, and a deep Ijesha language was coming from somebody who had never been there.

Her parents were from there, but they never took her there. They never spoke the language at home, but when prayer got to where it should, spirits had no option but to react. “Why are you troubling our lives? We have been there for a long time. We tried to prevent her from coming here, but she still came. Why did you come here? We said you should not come.”

Those are deeply rooted problems. Those that are not deeply rooted can just be thrown off easily. But, however, stronger and heavily entrenched spirits will require more time and effort to dislodge.

The most stubborn, aggressive, and tenacious ones may require the help of other believers. That is why we advise people, “If you want to do personal deliverance in the house, make sure you remove all sharp objects. Make sure you do not stay where you can bang your head on the floor because anything can happen.”

You heard the testimony of the Canadian woman this morning. She was praying at home with the book. She was smiting her tummy, and she began to vomit what she had eaten that she did not know. Listen, there are two stomachs. There are two reproductive organs.

There is a physical one and a spiritual counterpart. The food the enemy is feeding people in the dream does not go to the physical tummy; it is stored in the spiritual one. It could be stored there for seventy years or sixty or fifty years, troubling the person.

Until you get to the root of the matter and say, “My problem is evil consumption,” and you begin to address it, the problem will not leave you.

The more stubborn ones require people to go for deliverance and look for external assistance. We are here for this threefold series of PMCH to demand a total surrender by evil forces that are deeply rooted, keeping people in satanic bondage and satanic wells. When we have not discovered the root of a problem, we are in trouble. When we discover it but do not have the proper axe to cut it down, we are in trouble.

Unfortunately, the enemy has constructed a solid foundation of concrete problems in many lives. Many times, people attack the fruits, the leaves, the branches, and the stem of the problems, but the roots say, “We are still here o. You have cut off all other parts, but we are still here.” And because you are cutting off the leaves, the branches, and the stem, there will be some relief, but the root is still there. And then the root starts again to begin to grow fresh ones.

I am praying for somebody here; any deeply rooted problem that has been harassing your destiny, with a sevenfold amen, I command them to die, in the name of Jesus.

So, the logic of the root for the final solution of a problem is unquestionable and infallible. I was reading a story when we were in school. Some Arabs went to a country. There they found that water was flowing, bulbs were bringing out light, and since they had plenty of money in their hands, they decided to buy taps and bulbs and take them back home. At home, they still had no light or water simply because they did not buy the source that would bring out the light and water. When you kill the spider, there will be no cobwebs anymore.

So, the root is a very important part of the plant:

• it anchors the plant to the ground. So it ensures that the problem stays.
• it absorbs nutrients like water and mineral salts into the plant. It gives the plant food. So it feeds the problem.
• In some cases, the root acts as a storage organ. It compounds the problem.
• In some places, the root can even be used to propagate the plant. That is, it has the capacity to multiply to bear much evil. That is why if there are weak roots, there will be weak plants. Strong roots have strong plants. Your roots decide what goes on in the tree of your life. This is why this deep deliverance has been called.

My prayer is that all the clever spirits that conceal themselves so you will not know they are even there; those ones that were smuggled into your life without your knowledge, they will expire in the name of Jesus.

So, like our topic says, “Rising to the top above your roots.” We have talked about the roots. Now, rising.

There is no lift without a force. For something to be lifted up, it is a force pushing it up. There is no lift without a stretch. Things may fall on their own. I could throw this microphone down on the floor, but for it to be lifted back to this pulpit, a force is needed. When the energy, force, and spirit to lift a man to his place of honour have been removed, mortgaged, or sold out, then there is a problem. So elevation answers to principles. God is a God of principles too.

It is when we follow His principles that we can access His products. The plan of God is for His children to occupy the top position in whatever realm they find themselves in. This is the stand of the scriptures. The Bible wants you at the top, no matter what that root is saying. When we say ‘top’, it means:

• Maximum level.
• Topmost level.
• Glorious level.
• Superior level.
• Champion level.
• First class level.
• Royal level.
• Unparalleled level.

You may say this country is corrupt, but even as corrupt as you say it is, in JAMB, which has 400 total marks, if you score 400 over 400, your own score has no controversy. Such people do not struggle for admission. It is only when you land in the middle that you start struggling.

The top is:

• the superior level.
• your best level in Christ.
• the promised land allocated to you by Jesus Christ.
• the place where your life will bring maximum glory and highest profit to the kingdom of God.
• the level where your activities bring inspiration and impact others positively.
• the place where you enjoy a plentiful rain of mercies, favour, grace, power, and righteousness.
• a level where your life enters into a season of refreshing and fruitfulness.
• a realm when you are decked with the favour of God. And when you are inside divine favour, that favour will take you to where your certificates and connections will never take you. Favour has no respect for your qualifications.
• the realm of open doors.
• a realm where things are working sweatlessly for you.
• The paradise of your dreams.

I could remember the church I was in many years ago. There was a widow coming to that church. I respect her a lot. She had a faith that was difficult to catch. She used to sell rice, beans, and meat to children in a school. Before she joined us, every day she would cook the food and take it back unsold. And so every day, her children were just eating rice and beans. At a stage, her children asked, “Mummy, is there no other food?” She said, “so that this one will not be wasted. I cannot pour it away. That is why we are eating it.”

She was at a meeting where I was speaking on something similar to this, where I said, “Get away from that low level and find your way to the top; whether you want to go there or not, you are not permitted to stay in that low region. I forcefully push you to that top position.” She said a loud amen, and she started the kind of prayers we are going to start just now. Then something happened that was very strange to her. She got to school the next day with her food, as usual.

All the students just queued up in front of her. She was dazed. The students refused to go to other sellers. She sold everything. They were even asking her why she did not bring more. She asked them to go and buy from others. They said, “Your own is the best.” And that kept happening in the school until the school told other sellers to start coming. She built houses by selling food in school. That is what you call “Favour”.

I am praying for someone here today: the favour that will change your story, that will catapult you to the next level, that will surprise your friends and shock your enemies, that will take you to a height where no wicked birds can reach you; receive that favour now, in the name of Jesus.

That top is:

• the realm of the blessed communion with the Holy Ghost, where heaven becomes so near to you, Jesus becomes so dear to you, and the Bible becomes clearer to you.
• the level where your life becomes a model of good success, then your life becomes a liberating and lifting force to so many people, even after you have left this planet.
• the state where you become a plus and a significant contributor to your generation. If you are over 25 and you are still wasting your time on useless matters that cannot move your destiny forward, I feel very sorry for you. It is a fact, then, that your head is not correct. You spend 5 hours a day on social media doing nonsense that will not move your destiny forward. You are not going anywhere, yet you are still wasting the hours of your destiny dancing away at parties.

You are using your youth to convert yourself into a miserable old man or woman later. You see those who are serious as insane people. It is like when I was in school many years ago. I had no girlfriend. My girlfriend was my book, because I had decided that the poverty I saw in my father’s house would not be an extension of it. Although I took the decision and was going to church, I had no clue what to do. Nobody was teaching us the types of prayers we pray here. There was nothing like “Prayer Rain” or “Pray Your Way to Breakthroughs.”

I kept searching and saying, “O God, give me a clue on what to do to escape this poverty.” Then one day, we were in our classroom at Methodist Boys’ High School, and we had an Indian teacher who used to teach us mathematics. This teacher was an interesting man. He was fond of coming to class and gyrating away from mathematics to other topics.

Then one day he said, Boys, if you want to escape poverty, read your book!” I said, “What did he just say? Read your book? To escape poverty? Is that all? Okay! Fine!”

Beginning from the day he said it, I was reading my book every night from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. If I read that way at the University of Lagos, I do not think they would release my results. They would think I saw the results. And that was what I kept doing, and with prayers, God helped me.

When the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination results came out, I was the best in the whole school. So if you are a young lady of 25, 30, or 35 and you are still 35 and you are still sleeping around, then your head is not correct.

At your age, you do not think you should think about your life, settle down, and think of something that will move your destiny forward. You go to places where people just waste their lives and time. The time you are wasting to do all those useless things, the time you are wasting sitting down to make your hair, if you use it to run a bakery, sew, type, or do computing, or booksetting, will move your life forward. “Nooo, I am a beautiful woman.”.

The Bible says ‘beauty is vain’. Total vanity. Because the Bible says it will fade away. That is the truth. People now start doing all kinds of things to improve their beauty instead of improving their destiny. Vanity
The top is that level where you become a significant chapter in the history book of your destiny. People like John Wesley and Thomas Edison have chapters in their books. It is where you mature to a level where God places you in a strategic position to help your generation. The top is the road to securing a capital place in the master plan of God for your life. This is what we mean by the top.
I just want to read a little about Manasseh to you before we stop here and continue the next PMCH.

If you do not know Manasseh, let me introduce you to Manasseh. I do not think there is anybody in this congregation whose father or grandfather can beat Manasseh in evil.

2 Chronicles 33:1–7 (KJV) says: “Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem: But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel. For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever. And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:”

2 Chronicles 33:9 (KJV): “So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel.”

This was Manasseh. He now had a son called Josiah. Having been born with this kind of root, you would have concluded that Josiah was finished. But what happened? In chapter 34, we see Josiah’s life.

2 Chronicles 34:1-2 (KJV): “Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.”

That was the son of Manasseh. He did not allow his roots to limit his destiny. Therefore, whoever you are, you can rise above the circumstances of your past. You may have been born out of fornication, incest, adultery, poverty, or failure, but you can rise above that level by the power in the blood of Jesus. No matter the physical, spiritual, and social stigma, you can rise higher than your source. Raise your right hand above your head and shout this loud and clear. This is a statement I want you to make seven times, then you add ‘in the name of Jesus.’ Make sure nobody’s voice is louder than yours. Shout it the way I will shout mine:

I rise above my roots, by the power in the blood of Jesus.

4. Powers that stopped my parents, you cannot stop me, die in the name of Jesus.
5. Satanic embargo, assigned against my finances, die in the name of Jesus.
6. Power of captivity and badluck, I am not your candidate, die in the name of Jesus.
7. Miracle that surpasses explanation, I am available; manifest in my life, in the name of Jesus.
