Topic: RISING ABOVE YOUR ROOTS TO THE TOP (2)
Text: Deuteronomy 29:18, Matthew 13:6, Romans 11:16
Minister: Dr. Daniel Olukoya (G.O. MFM Worldwide)
At the last PMCH, I explained to you that the principle of deep deliverance is when you dig deep into the roots, and that whenever a believer confronts a problem, what should come first into your mind is a tree. The tree will have roots, stems, branches, leaves, and sometimes flowers. Sometimes we battle the flowers. Sometimes we battle the branches. Sometimes, we even battle the stem, but as long as the root is not battled, the best you can get is temporary relief. So, the root of the battle is really the principle of deep deliverance.
Until the root is discovered and dealt with, problems will remain. And I explained that day that the root is the most important part of the plant, and I want you to understand this very well.
Once you understand this very well, you will know how to pray when the time comes.
Deuteronomy 29:18 (KJV) tells us this: “Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;”
So, a man could be a root. A woman could be a root. An entire family can be a root. A whole tribe can be a root. And once that root is bad, it is indeed a problem. It was Gehazi that ran into trouble. It was not his children. It was not his family people. He ran into trouble with Prophet Elisha, and that one said to him, “The leprosy of Naaman shall cleave to you…” It would have been better if Elisha had stopped at ‘you’, but he added “and to your offspring forever”, meaning that anyone born in the household of Gehazi, it is in his maternity ward he would collect his leprosy.
And so if you are a pastor, you want to deal with that leprosy that you are seeing, and you do not understand that the origin was a curse issued by a prophet, you have not identified the problem, and there is no way you can solve the problem. In 1997, I saw seven very beautiful and light-skinned girls who were sisters but were not able to marry. I have never seen this kind of thing before. Then they came as a team. I asked questions. They told me that their father worshipped Ifa (a Yoruba god) and other gods.
I said, “Okay, no problem. All of you, join your hands together and begin to pray, “We release ourselves from any evil platform prepared for our ancestors’.” They started praying, and I left them alone, went back, and started talking to other people. All of a sudden, I began to hear coughing. They were all coughing vigorously. The coughing was too violent. I ran there to see all of them vomiting cowries. This was around June. By December, all seven were married because something went to the root of the matter and dealt with it.
I saw another case like that too. In this one, they were about four ladies. Again, when we started praying, the Lord revealed that they had an ancestor who was an armed robber. One day, in his village, some people carried marriage palmwine and kolanut from one village to another for a marriage ceremony. Their great-grandfather accosted them and stole all the dowry. And so the family of the bride-to-be, issued a curse on that man and said, “As you have caused sorrow here today, none of your daughters will marry.” That was the root.
If you do not know that one, you will keep saying, “I claim my husband” or “I claim my wife.” You can claim till forever until you go back to the root where it came from. So, the root is a very important part of the plant. It anchors that plant to the ground and supplies food to the plant. If that root has a problem, the effect will be seen immediately on the whole plant. A sick root? The plant will be sick. A polluted root? The plant will be polluted. It is the same thing if there is a cursed root. Unless you engage the blood of Jesus and deliverance to clear it, the person lives a cursed life.
Look at what Matthew 13:6 (KJV) says: “And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.”
So when the root is weak, what follows is the same as when problems come and the wind begins to blow: it will not be able to withstand the problem. That root is the foundation of your life. It is the platform prepared for you to sit down upon by your ancestors. Gehazi prepared a platform of leprosy for his children.
I am praying that any evil platform prepared for you by any evil ancestor will be roasted in the name of Jesus.
So the centrality of the root in resolving problems cannot be overemphasised.
Romans 11:16 (KJV) says: “For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.”
The reverse is also true. If the root is unholy or polluted, so will everything coming from there. As it is true for plants, so is it for human beings.
And I am decreeing upon your life that any evil platform prepared for you by your ancestors shall be destroyed, in the name of Jesus.
All who are here today, listen: you are too needed to be wasted. You are supposed to be a wonder, not a wanderer. No one here is an accident. God is intentional in the creation of everyone here. Your destiny is not your decision; it is actually your discovery. And if you are here today and you were able to win the relay race in the womb, you cannot fail now. You are not permitted to fail. Those of you who read biology know that millions of sperm run after an egg, but only one will penetrate. So if you won that race, then you are not permitted to fail.
But the truth is this: life does not give you what you deserve; it is what you demand. There is no book, including the Bible, that says that life will be fair. No. Life is unfair. It is you who will decide that life has to be fair to you. And you must pray to the level where you get results because if you lack results, you will lose respect. And if you must fly, you must fight. You may sing, “I am born to win,” but born to win means born to fight. Anyone who is afraid of commotion will not see promotion. If you are afraid of confrontation, then you will not see manifestation. Everyone here is a child of destiny.
I decree upon your life that your life shall generate positive impact. You will be an addition, not a subtraction. You will be a gain, not a pain. The angels of Jehovah shall perfect all that concerns you, in the name of Jesus.
Wherever you go, the favour of God shall speak for you, in the name of Jesus.
Last week, I was telling some people that you are the deciding factor in what you want the Lord to do in your life. In the last PMCH, I shared about a king called Manasseh. You can read about Manasseh in 2 Chronicles 33. If you are talking about demonic kings in the Bible, there is no king that was as demonic as Manasseh. He worshipped the stars, the moon, the forest, everything. He was a witch, a wizard—everything dark you can think of. Then he gave birth to a child called Josiah. Josiah did not allow that root to limit his destiny.
Meaning that by the power in the blood of Jesus, you can arise above the circumstances of your birth. You may have been born out of fornication, adultery, incest, poverty, or failure. But you can rise above that root by the power of the blood of Jesus. Can you raise your right hand and say:
Shout this 3 hot times: I rise above my roots, by the power in the blood of Jesus.
No matter the physical, social, and spiritual stigma around your origin, you can still, by the grace of God, rise higher than your source. You do not have to die in a manger because you were born in a manger. Jesus was born in a manger, but that did not make him a goat or a sheep. Today, He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, even over those who were born in comfortable places. Ruth in the Bible was of an abominable origin. In fact, her race was sentenced to a ten-year generation ban from the house of God. That is what the Bible says about bastards.
Yet from that woman emerged a persevering woman who became one of the great great grandmothers of Jesus Christ. Ruth was the person who declared, “Your God shall be my God, your people my people. Where you sleep, I sleep, where you die, I die.” That eternal statement was from Ruth. So, you can refuse to be limited by the facts of your origin. Rahab was a Jericho harlot, but she eventually became the saviour of her household and the grandmother of Jesus. You can choose to arise above the cage of your roots.
HOW DO YOU DO THIS?
- Be born again: Become a friend of God.
- Clear your foundation: If you leave it as it is, it will get worse. It is a tragedy when you are paying the bills of your grandfather when you did not buy anything. It is a tragedy when you allow what killed your father to kill you. Clear your foundation. That is why people go for deliverance.
- Reclaim any ground given to the kingdom of darkness: reclaim it. In some families, what will make them prosper has already been put in a bank before they were born.
- Break curses that have affected you since conception: Sometimes when matters become serious, people sit down and begin to pray, “Father, any curse that came upon my life from the womb, I break them. At one year, I break them. At two years, I break them,” and in so doing, they continue till their present age.
I know a woman who I asked to go through such prayer. She was 70 by the time she started praying.
None of her children were married, and none had a job. It was when she got to the age of 65 that, while praying, she tumbled on her seat. As I went there to help her up, the demon spoke to me. He said, “Man of God, why do you want to help this woman? Is she your family member? Were you there when they handed them over to us? We were supposed to kill her at the age of 65; now you have made her pray it out.”.
I am praying for anyone here: if there is any covenant of death by age assigned to your life, with a sevenfold amen, I break them now, in the name of Jesus.
- Bind all ancestral demons: You can only do that if you are a born-again Christian and you are spirit-filled. I have seen people who are not born again or who are spirit-filled who tried to confront their family idols, and they came back mad or dead.
- You need to live a holy life: So that the enemy will not come back to your life. If you break all these things and start to live an unholy life, the enemy will come back for you.
- Determine to escape from that root: Do not let the enemy distract you. You must say, ‘I must get out of that foundation. My case is different. It may be happening to others, but I must escape’.
PRAYER POINTS.
- Battles that rise at night to sink my destiny, scatter, in the name of Jesus
- (Place your hand on your belly button.) Witchcraft blood in my bloodline; dry up, in the name of Jesus.
- (Place your hand on your belly button) Mistakes of my parents, adding to the battle of my life, clear away, in the name of Jesus.
- Powers that want me to suffer, today is your burial date; die in the name of Jesus.
