Topic: KILLING THE FAITH KILLERS
Text: Mark 10:46-52, Hebrews 3:17-19
Minister: Dr. Daniel Olukoya (G.O. MFM Worldwide)

Everything you get from the Almighty happens as an act of faith because the Bible says, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God.”

Mark 10:46 (KJV) says, “And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.”

The enemy had put him in a satanic bus stop where he had to depend on people for everything.

● I am praying for anyone here tonight, and if the enemy has already put you on a highway of begging, you shall be set free in the name of Jesus.

But blind Bartimaeus was not just an ordinary blind man; he was a blind man with his ears to the ground.

Mark 10:47 (KJV) says: “And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.”

He began to cry. The Bible did not say he began to speak or moan or to ask more questions. Immediately he found out who was passing; the Bible says that he cried out. The sound must have been so loud and inconvenient that the next verse says:

Mark 10:48 (KJV): “And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.”

And we read something very powerful in verse 49.

Mark 10:49 (KJV) says, “And Jesus stood still….”

That is, his cry arrested Jesus. Up till today, beloveth, any cry from the heart will always arrest God. Many people were there, but Jesus did not wait because of them. But Jesus stood still for a man who cried out from the heart. His cries put a brake on Jesus.

● I know there is someone whose cry will put a break on Jesus today. If you are that person, shout a loud hallelujah!

Mark 10:49 (KJV) says, “And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.”

Why did they say “Be of good comfort” to him? It was because they knew he was crying in agony.

● Any garment preventing you from being healed today shall catch fire, in the name of Jesus.

Mark 10:50-51a (KJV) says, “And he, casting away his garment, rose and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?”

Why did Jesus ask him that question? Jesus asked him that question because the prayer “have mercy on me” was too general; prayers must be specific.

Mark 10:51b (KJV) says: “The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.”

So Jesus asked because it may be that the blind man wanted some money from him. Then after the blind man specified his prayer request,

Mark 10:52 (KJV) says: “And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.”

What a strange statement. Jesus did not say “my power” or “my anointing” or “my faith,” but ‘the small madness you exhibited now has made thee whole.’

Faith is a major thing in our walk with God. The Bible says, “Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Christ Jesus.” When something begins to kill a person’s faith, it kills all kinds of breakthroughs you should have in life.

Only two things can keep a man from blessings:

  1. Unbelief.
  2. Sin.

Once you have repented from your sin, the other major faith killer is unbelief or doubt. It is so bad that it is written in Hebrews 3:17-19:

“But with whom was he grieved forty years? Was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”

You are killing your faith when you:

  • begin to entertain thoughts of failure.
  • entertain the magnitude of your problem.
  • say, “Ah, this Goliath is big! He is going to kill everybody!” when you can say, “This Goliath is so big that when I throw him my stone, there is no way it will not catch him.”.
  • focus on difficulty instead of solution.
  • give in to discouragement.
  • are forgetting God’s benefits. The Bible says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”

That songwriter says:
When upon life’s billows you are tempest-toss’d,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

  • are listening to your symptoms and waiting for your sickness to come back.
  • are trying to see before you believe, instead of believing before you see like the Bible says.
  • are gathering other beggarly solutions together with your prayers.
  • Keep referring to former failures.
  • are thinking of giving up or wanting to commit suicide.
  • are giving in to worry and anxiety, because immediately doubt comes in, faith jumps out.
  • are practicing negative confessions.
  • are moving by sight.
  • are living in any known sin.
  • Give in to fear. In fact, fear is the opposite of faith. It is a great hindrance. When the storms of life come, fear sometimes comes in. It is one of the greatest tools the enemy uses to destroy both believers and unbelievers.

When Adam sinned, fear kept him from worshipping God. He said, “I heard your voice in the garden. I was afraid and hid myself.” Fear is a great destroyer. It hinders one from possessing their possession. It will make one think, talk, and act wrongly. Fear is a tormentor and paralysing spirit.

Fear can stop one from taking profitable steps. It makes one say ‘amen’ to the verdict of the enemy. The Bible says that fear can make a man’s heart fail. Fear destroys faith. This kind of fear that a lot of Christians exercise these days can make them lose their breakthroughs. God is here; His power is in this place, and that is why He has brought us together.

If you do not kill your fear:

  • it will bring a premature sunset on a person’s destiny.
  • It will kill you. Anybody fighting battles with the enemy of our souls, if you are afraid, the enemy will kill you off.

If you live in fear, you are negotiating your destiny with Satan. You must decide that you will use the word of God to nullify all fears and pray all your fears away. You must make up your mind at this meeting today that whatever fear the enemy is bringing your way will have to be paralysed and killed at the Cross of Calvary. That is why we are here tonight.
